I've searched everywhere in the forums, however I was curious too see if there are any full faq writeups for a complete list and parts required to do a conversion from an 03' wrx cluster and dash interface too a v7. I was also curious if the odometers on them are fixed and can't be reset, if so if I should look for one with roughly the same amount of miles. The other question I had is if these are fully compatible without having the dccd for it hooked up or any other features that need to be moded;especially wiring and ecu.

do you mean swap to a v7sti cluster? the v7sti cluster will be in kmp/h, look for a GDB(V8) Sti cluster if you want mp/h. Should be pretty much plug n play, I took my cluster for the swap to a local dealership who changed the clock with reference from my last vehicle inspection (within 24 hours)

Have a quick google for STI cluster swap.

The easiest swap would be a UK prodrive STi v7 or v8 non dccd cluster.

It would be plug and play, lights up green (not red), has the shift light and buzzer, does not have dccd, does not do the auto sweep, and has the out side temp display. You would have to get the temp sensor and wire it up if you wanted the out side temp to work.

I did the v8 non dccd version in my 02 wrx before switching to the v8 dccd version.

When I put the v8 prodrive dccd cluster in my car the rear diff light was on all of the time, and the dccd part just stayed off.

Its a bad pic, but it shows how the dccd v8 looks like in my car. I had removed the diff led from the circuit board so it would not stay on all of the time.

As for programing the cluster, I have never herd of a dealer being able to do it.

Tacoma speedometer can do it.

I can also program the US wrx and prodrive ones, but not the USDM STI ones.

Thanks for the important info guys appreciate it. I was unaware of the v7 kph reading versus the v8 mph reading. Does the v8 vary in differences from year to year? 04-05' STi versus 07-08'. I plan on using the "dccd" in a future swap so that's why I'm going threw the pre planning phases. I was unaware if the "v8" cluster would fit into the dash, or if the STi dashboard has to be swapped too, none the less, I was going to do it anyways especially for the upgrades of center console and the climate control interface area. Lastly, I take it the wiring harness are no different then? Will some soldering be needed to cut and and re wire the v8 cluster with no left over wires, or not enough needless to say?

Tacoma Speedometer, are they located in WA? If so I'm close to them, I'll have to check it out, it would be nice to get the same miles converted over..

I have never heard of this either but sounds like I'll be checking it out regardless.

The 02-03 main part of the dash is the same as the 04-05 its only the center console and parts around the radio that are different. I believe the 06-07 are also the same but cant confirm.

As for clusters being in mph. These are the ones I Know are in MPH

USDM sti (light up red with black faces)
UK prodrive sti v7 and v8, with and with out dccd (light up green with blue faces)

There is also a black backed STi cluster that lights up green and is in MPH that is v7 i think, and must be EDM or something.

All the JDM clusters are in KPH (light up green with black faces I believe) You could run the IAG KPH to MPH converter cable.

If your keeping your cars dash wiring then I would get the uk prodrive sti v7 or v8 with dccd.
Then run the dccdpro controller. With it you can wire it to and dccd cluster and have all the lights work like they would in a stock STi.

I assume your going to run a 6 speed. Will you be running the sti R180 rear diff or getting a 06-07 6 speed and running your wrx r160 like I did? if you go with the R180 you could wire the rear diff sensor up so the light in the cluster would not stay on all of the time.

Tacoma Speedometer is in WA.

I can also do some other stuff to the prodrive/JDM clusters. Like switch the out side temp to read in F instead of C and also remove the rear diff LED if your not planing to run the rear diff sensor. send me a PM for more about this.

Is it possible to run a non dccd cluster in a dccd car?
