Default Evo x

I just met some guy at the Home Depot parking lot with an evo x. He said he bought it a year ago for 25k and thinks the engines/tranny don't match. I'm guessing someone bought a shell and swapped the engine/tranny in it. What do you guys think will happen when he goes to emissions. Will the engine show up as stolen on their computers...either way he's going to jail if he's telling everyone about it. I don't even know him and he trusted me haha***********

woah woah woah......calm down.

engines blow, new ones get swapped in. VIN's don't always match, and NOTHING is going to happen unless the VIN's tagged on the motor/trans are flagged as stolen....and even still, if he just bought the car from someone - nothing will happen.

somehting WILL happen if the engine or tranny is stolen..

They will remove the "stolen" part and he will have problems with the law.

not as many problems as if he would have killed someone but still won't get off the hook that easy.

somebody from the po po department will be asking questions.

And he certainly won' t be able to keep the stolen part.

Likely a short investigation that will lead to him answering some questions, then being without a car with no recoup. Assuming he wasn't involved in the likely nefarious activities. If it were me, I think I'd make a call to the cops before it bit me in the rear.

I had a friend bought a used tahoe. he got pulled over and the got a entire car search. (he was being a smartass to the cop) The cop noticed that the vin on the door didnt match the vin on the dash. The cop ran the both vins and the vin from the door came up flagged from stolen vehicle. My friend got arrested and impounded his car. Cops figured out that my friend bought the car like that, so they didnt press charges but....... they took the door off the car!!!! LMAO. On top of that he was about 300 miles away from home when this all happened. So he had to drive 300 miles without a door in mid july on a sunny day!

Moral of the story: don't be a smartass to cops. I've gotten pulled over numerous times and have been nothing but polite and respectful and have had 0 issues with cops.
