Cool New 2012 Rally Blue WRX Owner

Whats up everyone? My names Aaron, just thought Id introduce myself and say hi to the community of NASIOC. I am but more importantly will be a proud owner of a new 2012 Blue WRX premium. I am picking the car up as of August 16th. I am super excited and ecstatic to own such a reputable and amazing car.

Little bit about my history with cars, I had my first 4-cyl turbo experience at the age of 17 when i bought my first car, a 1997 Talon TSi AWD. After owning that for a few years and joining the United States Navy, I felt to make a step up and i bought my first of 2 SRT-4 Neons, a 2003. After a sudden and horrible flooding accident after 6 months of ownership with the 2003, i purchased my second a 2004 SRT-4. I had about 1.5yrs of fun and group hangouts with the second til after i was disharged from the Navy in November of 2011 and chose to trade the SRT in on a 2011 Mazdaspeed3 as of January 2012.

After having the Speed3 for about 6 months or so and watching the power gains and fun my two friends were having with their WRXs, I decided to take the step and trade the Speed3 in and order myself my own 2012 WRX.

As i said i am super excited and looking forward to talking to and meeting all the fellow owners and learning as much as i can about the WRX.

Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. Thanks for reading and again my names Aaron

welcome aboard. what made you switch? from what i've seen, the MS3 is a pretty capable car too. i saw a vid the other week where a stg2 ms3 was walking away from a stg2 wrx from a roll. i was impressed.

i do know of a few that have ms3s but it seems like it needs fuel pump internals just to go stage 1

yep i had the internals done, fmic, intake, cobb ap, intake and TB thermal gaskets, and bov. i was on stage 1.

main reason i switched was the oem turbo on the speed cant produce on just 93 oct as its fuel source the amount of power the wrx can. also i had my fair share with FWDs so i wanted to get back to AWD and not worry about traction in a straight line lol

well before i ordered mine i drove a 2011 STi and loved it. granted i know the suspension is different but just wanted to drive as close to a WRX as possible and it was awesome. but i will give a feedback on the comparison.

well its coming with the SPT catback and STi short throw.

so so far i purchased the cobb AP, kartboy front bushings, and the AP cai.

after break in comes the CNT catted DP, AVO tmic, cobb bpv, perrin blanket, cobb heat shield, tomei header/up pipe kit, DW65c fp, DW cobb spec 565 injectors, cobb blue knob, AP springs, and the GS ebcs.

and obviously a pro-tune to finish it all up

well my buddy has everything but the tmic, bpv, fp and injectors.

instead of an AP cai, he has the injen, and he is cat-less. so i know cause of cat-less he'll produce slightly higher numbers but shouldnt be too big of a difference.

he's pushing 325whp/382wtq pro-tuned.

so we are hoping with the tmic, bpv, injectors and pump he should be between 330-340whp and close to 400wtq. and ill be slightly under him, which is the power range im looking for

if they still have stock injectors and pushing 325, that's very impressive. as per my tuner, upgrading my injectors and pump would be about 30hp, so i have no doubt you will have at least 330hp as long as you use the same rollers as he did.

thats what i said but i was there and saw the dyno sheet. and ill be going to the same tuner.

only thing thats confusing me is ive been searching and reading, seems some ppl say the oem injectors are 440cc and i read other places oem is 565cc. so if 565cc is the oem, why would the tuner tell us to run 565cc injectors? lol

i was going to just jump to 650cc and call it a day. but tuner says no need to spend extra money, 565cc is all you'll need. so im a bit confused as for the oem injector size

not sure what the stocks are but my tuner recommended 650cc to me as well, as long as youre only intending to use pump gas.

personally if i was going to do injectors, i would go with 1000cc to have the option of running an E85 and pump map.

also, when you guys get new injectors, see if the tuner can recalibrate your MPG calculator. i know once you change injectors, the MPG reading on your OBC will read higher than it should. i've read somewhere its possible to recalibrate the OBC to correct it though, but havent looked that deep into it since i have no plans on upgrading my fuel system yet.

awesome thanks. i will definitely ask them about that.

i cant run e85 cause there is only 1 pump near us out here and its 25 miles away lol so 93 oct is as much as we will go unless we run water-injection (but im not cause my SRTs had that lol) so ill be happy with 93 oct.

ill look into the injectors more and see if i can find a clearified answer.

yes but the beauty of having your cobb AP is the ease of swapping from one map to the other. one of my buddies is on his pump map for the most part, unless he goes to an event. then he swaps over to his E85 map for the extra power.

please keep me posted about the MPG calibration. i'm auto-subbed to threads i post in so i'm subbed to updates in here. post in here if you decide to create your own thread somewhere else (like the member's car gallery)

i only go on this site if im bored at work, so i may miss it if you create a different one later on.

oh, please let me know if the front bushings make a big difference. i have the factory SPT shifter w/ the stiffer SPT rear bushing myself. i was considering the front bushing upgrade also.

well just from test driving the STi and driving the MS3 for 6 months, driveability between the two is a great difference. STi beats the MS3 10-fold.

will do man. ive read ppl say that should be one of the first mods and it restricts the side to side sloppyness of the stock, or STi STS.

cool. i havent had the pleasure of driving an STI yet, i'm hoping the WRX isnt that far behind it in terms of being better than the MS3 10fold, lol
