best tire size for 18x7.5 wheels
So its time for me to get some new tires and i just cant seem to find the right answers to my questions.
I have an 02 wrx with (I believe) 18x7.5 oz prodrive p1's. I was curious as to what would be the best tire size for this rim. I have 225/40/18s on it now and i was curious if i could, or if it would be better to get a bigger tire? I will be doing quite a bit of snow driving here over the next few months so i want to get a good all-season tire..

1 - forget the all season tire idea. If you are going to be "doing a quite a bit of snow driving over the next few months" get a dedicated snow tire.
2 - go as narrow as possible (or so - for the size wheel you are using) for snow driving. |

First thing to do is get a tire size calculator Put in the stock size and check to see which sizes have less than a 3% odometer difference. Anything over is not recommended. Second, Look for tires in the sizes you can get into. Determine the whether or not you have atleast .5" of cushion room for the wheel you choose to put on the tire. SO if it's 18x7.5 you want the min and max to be 6.5-8". Then make a spreadsheet of all the possible tires you can purchase. Read the reviews, check the consumer report surveys. And narrow it down to your needs, your budget, and which tire is the best bang for your buck. It comes naturally believe me. I don't know what the stock tire size is for your car is since there are two options. Just find out plug it in and with the link I gave, you can reference up to 4 different tire sizes. GL Also, If you are driving in snow, getting a more narrow tire is your best option. so if stock is 215/45 you'd want 205/45 for example. |

225/40 is optimal for those wheels. It's as close to stock diameter as you're gonna get.

Now, the wheels are oz prodrive p1 in 18 inch and I believe these only came in 18x7.5, but I could be wrong.. I'm really thinking about going with the pzero nero a/s in a 235/40/18.. |
