I run diesel grade Rotella/Delo400/Delvac 15w40 in all four Subarus in the driveway with absolutely zero issues. It actually stopped oil consumption on my mother's 95 Legacy, and keeps my HLA motors nice and quiet. I highly doubt the 15w40 caused your busted motor.

Using 15w40 diesel grade oil was the best switch I made, and now will always be my choice.

And these guys are worried about diesel grade 5w40...

Agreed, as long as you don't let your oil drain overnight you'll be fine. It causes the engine internals to rust and tarantulas like to make homes in your oil pan and spin a web over your oil pickup, then your engine goes kaboom. You're such a smart guy...

Have ran Rotella T6 5w-40 in both of my Wrx's and my wifes Impreza for a year now, nothing but great results.

"S" is for spark ignition and "C" is for compression ignition.

API "C" specifications are for diesels and "S" specifications are for gasoline engine. Check your owner's manual. It will say API SM.
