Gah, I can't stand Heiki. Didn't like him at MaClaren pre jensen, and don't like him now. I realize his car is terrible and that's frustrating, but come on. KAMUI!

Heiki would be great choice in the Lotus/Renault (again)

It's a shame Heikki always had the "more fuel/less stops" strategy when he raced at Mclaren, otherwise he might have had more than just one win. Lewis always had the strategy that favored the quicker driver.

Semi-on-topic question:

When Interlagos was significantly shortened back in the 70s, did anyone complain about it? I know that redesigning Hockenheim pissed off a lot of people, and of course reconfiguring Monza upset a lot of purists.

Anyone know? Just curious.

Do we have any octogenarians on the board that could answer that?

I think any time a great track (Interlagos, Spa, Monza, the Nurburgring, Hockenheim, or La Sarthe to name a few) is changed, people are going to complain about it. They take on a much more sanitized appearance. I think most (if not all) the changes were in the name of safety. Some people just live for the thrill of the near-death experience.

The Bus Stop chicane at Spa has been changed several times over the last 15 years, but I don't know why. I think I'm the only person who actually complains about it though.

The old bus stop chicane was great and you could carry some speed thru it if you were brave with the kerbs. If you got it wrong there was little runoff and a big penalty for blowing it. I guess that's the new reality of racing, little penalty for going off.

I wish Interlagos still had grass on the outside of Turn 1 instead of green tarmac. I guess people argue the racing is closer because people are taking more risks on track knowing they can rejoin without too much fuss if they blow it.

Agreed.... Only true tracks where run-offs will cost u at least 5-10 places if not the race like singapore and monoco, are pure tracks!!!! Well street tracks but thats when perfection comes to play!
