MA Highway Safety Director's career crashes

As director of the Massachusetts Highways Safety Division since 2007, Burgess was responsible for developing highway safety policies and reducing crashes.

However, her driving history shows that since 1982, she's received four speeding violations two failure to stop for a police officer, one driving without a license or registration, one driving without wearing a seatbelt and one failure to stay in her lane.

I feel like she should be promoted... She knows first hand the problems on the road and can now better provide rules and regulations for people not to follow.

Where does it say anything about being hidden? The administration not knowing about it means they didn't really look into her driving record, which is rather pertinent considering the position she was in.

You cannot have people that hold public office doing things like this. A director of IRS cannot be found evading taxes and be expected to hold the job. We expect better from people that are elevated to these positions. The main question I would like to see answered is: would an average citizen be allowed to retain their driver's license given the same driving record? If the answer is no, someone abused their position and should be held accountable. This woman is taking a righfull fall but I suspect others are sitting quietly right now hoping their contribution to this mess does not get brought up. I am sure other people helped her keep her job and suppressed previous inquiries. Why is this coming out now? Who did she piss off?

You guys need to put this in perspective. In my opinion 4 speeding tickets and the rest of the violations in a period of 30 years, isn't that huge of a deal.

The fact that she was relieved from the position once this came to light is pretty telling.

Not really. This is no different than being fired for leaving out a pertinent negative thing on your resume. Heck, that's what this is.

She got the job in 2007. She has tickets from 3 decades ago. I wasnt even born yet.

I would agree that 4 speeding tickets and several crashes in 30 years isn't much of an issue but driving without registration and two failure to stop for an officer are fairly major offenses considering the job she held

I was thinking the same thing. Although, one driving with a suspended license isn't too bad, considering it's pretty easy to not know your license was suspended.

No sweat we had a guy named Angel Ortiz who was the Director of Public Safety here in Crackadelphia. He was never licensed to drive a motor vehicle in any state. He was driving a City owned car with a Police Package with lights and sirens and was a worthless POS. City Council. Politics is wonderful.
