Default unequal length header leak?

Has any body else had an issue trying to get their header to seal right at that slip joint where the two pipes come together and if so what have you done to seal it thanks

A little off subject, when I did my exhaust the first time removed mY resonator no problem with the original header but now that I have an UN equal length header and no cat I get the horrible rasp with a little subie rumble should I put in a stock resonator or go for an after market one
