Anyone been tuned by Brian (rexftw) through Six Star Motorsports?
If so: what are your modifications? Were you happy with the tune? Would you recommend him to friends? Thanks for the information Steven (you can pm me if you dont feel comfortable posting publicly)

I know he's tuned his own car, but I honestly don't think he's had very many "customers".

I know Brian has a 10sec car on his own tune. Don't know if that helps you at all with your decision.

I would like to be honest and lay it all out on the table as I didn't see this thread until just now.
I've been working with, talking to, and learning from Andy for a while now and have tuned my own car and it does pretty decently for what it is. I don't walk around selling myself to tune to people, people just end up asking me or being referred to me (I do think some people have been overselling me though ). I have a career downtown so among other things time is somewhat limited. For what it is worth, I am just a customer at Six Star, not affiliated with them in any way besides that and knowing the guys there. I am (and will be for probably a long time) learning, and every now and then I end up having someone get a hold of me either after hearing about my car or someone mentioning me. If you are looking for people that I have fully tuned, the only car fully tuned as yet is my own car. I have changed things on a few cars but until very recently I have held it to that. I just don't want it to seem like I have been throwing myself out there as the next Jr and advertising tuning or anything like that. I consider it a hobby I am getting into right now, as opposed to an occupation or revenue stream. I'd like to think the results with my car mean I am at least not a total ****up though. I find it very interesting, very enjoyable, and very satisfying. Some people seem to have a fair bit of faith in me, which I appreciate, but again I am really only messing with cars at the moment that ask for me or as favors. I wouldn't expect a lot of people to want me to tune their car as there is, obviously, a significant amount of money invested in a car to trust to someone with no reputation. Equally, you likely aren't going to make as much power as a tune elsewhere because I am simply not willing to push anywhere near the limits on someone else's car. I have learned a lot (both in tuning and mechanically) pushing my car to where it is at, 30ish psi on a built, but unsleeved, EJ205 which is daily driven on 100 octane. I am by no means done learning though. Edit: Also, please don't take that as meaning I would recommend or even consider being that retarded on other people's cars. I am hunting for and straddling the limits of myself and my motor. C/N's: I tune my car and occasionally mess with cars people that ask me to mess with. I am not proactively looking to tune cars nor do I expect any and do not consider myself to be at the level of Andy or Jr or any of the several other professional tuners. I might get there some day, but I don't want people to think I am proposing myself as that right now. Sorry for any confusion. Last edited by RexFTW; 10-27-2011 at 02:25 PM. |

I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion. That being said, I don't think I said anything negative about Gangster. He's just starting to tune other people, so the word didn't really get out yet until this thread. I would also like to clarify that I never once mentioned that I did any tuning. Owning a Tactrix cable doesn't automatically make you something you're not. People who don't know me shouldn't make assumptions about me to other people, who also don't know me.

This thread is pretty old but I thought that I should chime in. He did mine over the summer and was as professional and courteous as one could hope for. We spent more than 2 hours working on everything and the results are fantastic. My car runs beautifully. He's been responsive to questions since then and I have no complaints or concerns whatsoever.

Well, that was being very honest Mr. Lezenby! Shows that your serious about what your getting into and taking the right steps! Hopefully one day you'll feel confident enough with the mechanics of the car and the parts that are done to go out and start publicly performing true tunes!

Going to have to ask him. He's on his own program. We don't schedule him.
