Default Water coolant leak

Noticed a small water coolant leak coming from my 2005 impreza 2.5RS. Tomorrow, I plan on trying to locate - any suggestions on known spots that I should check first to locate the leak? It seems to be to the right of center on the car where it hits the ground in my garage.

Assuming you mean to the right of center as you're facing the front of the car, then that would be where the water pump and thermostat are (on the bottom driver side of the engine). There's also a lower radiator hose on the driver side.

The water pump is driven by the timing belt so if you haven't done one yet that will be a good time to do it. If thats whats leaking.

Had car on lift and was able to see what's going on - I saw fresh leaking near the thermostat housing, but seems like the leak was more on the aluminum above this part - believe this was the water pump. The leak is small, so I was hoping to wait until spring (warmer out) then do the timing belt, etc. I am an intermediate mechanic - would this job only be recommended to a seasoned pro due to the timing and marks you have to make sure all this stuff lines up and I am a complete newbie at this particular repair. I have replaced exhaust systems, oil changes, spark plugs, etc. but hate to start something I will regret and then I'll need a tow.
