Luckily this isn't a Honda. But with the way some of these cars are getting cheaper, you can see the influx of those owners thinking an intake add's power.

Regardless I would still follow up with a tuner and have him look it over. There is no telling what was done and undone to this car. Like you said it seems pointless to just put an intake on it.

For all you know he had an intake and a downpipe and got it stage two tuned. When it was time to sell it he put the stock DP back on to sell the aftermarket one for a little more and just left the tune on it.

Obviously this is a big hypothetical but that's the point. You have no idea what has been done to this car and what is damaging it or helping it.
