Default 08 wrx Rear Bumper Modification to Fit Quad Exhaust?

Hey Guys,

I recently purchased a magnaflow 3in STI quad catback, i want to modify my rear bumper to make it work. I only have a single slot in my bumper for my exhaust. Can this be done and How?

Thanks,
Chris

It will fit, but it will touch the bumper. If you're concerned about that, buy extended hangers. Even then, it will still touch. Here is mine...touching the bumper. I plan to buy the exhaust finishers and have a body shop cut and install them for me.

Dremel and liquid courage. That way it will look even.

This looks weird, can you take another photo from a normal angle? Also, its going to take a lot of work to make the exhaust finishers fit properly on that bumper, and will definitely be a waste of $$ and time.

To the OP, this about the best you will get cutting out the bumper and putting finishers on a bumper that they aren't meant for.

^^^^^^^^^^^^ glad youre showing off too to bad the op does not have the bumpers we have. its doable but its gonna be hard to avoid rust without painting and clearcoating if you cut into it.

Hi.
My first post here. Starting looking around because i have a 2010 wrx, single exhaust, poor sound, and would like to install the 2012 quad exhaust. Looks like the exhaust fits under but the bumper need to be ... cut !
am i correct ? can you install a 2012 wrx quad exhaust on a 2010 wrx ? did you have subaru shop do the job ?
sorry for those trivial questions

^^^ You should man up and do it yourself and save tons of monies, cause you'll need that for other mods.

My personal opinion, take off the exhaust before you cut, wouldve made my life tons easier. Take a hand saw and just hack away, slowly and carefully or even a dremel would work ( I didnt have one of those). It might hang lower than you would think, I tried raising mine but the whole axle would rub against the metal underside of the car and make crazy annoying metal grinding noises.

To rememdy that is just to lower the exhaust. still looks okai.

heres my 2011 wrx quad, I added tips and remove the resonator. It literally lines right up, not fitment problems so dont sweat it if it does go right the first time, just reangle the hangers and youre good to go.

Thank so much for the info Trustkevin13, and the picture !
your car looks great like that, and the sound of it must be quite a change !
Did you do everthing yourself ? Thing is, i don't have a pit, so even though i am slender, it wont make it.
How much did you pay for the exhaust parts ?

I had a 2010 WRX, traded it in for a 2013 WRX. Had a Perrin axle back on the 2010, loved the sound. First thing I did when picking up the 2013 was get another Perrin axle back since I liked it so much. Honestly think the single exhaust sounded better. The 2013 sounds similar, just not as loud at WOT. If your doing it for sound, why not look for a Perrin (search YouTube for clips, that helped me choose) or another brand axle back. Just recently saw a Single exit PERRIN in Black for $200

Yeah, you can always message me questions! We're a community here and I firmly believe it, even with all the jerks around.

Well I had a straight back with a cobb DP before so it went from cops pulling me over every other day to quiet. With the resonator it sounded pretty good with the cobb dp, quiet but a nice little vroom when you go at it, without the resonator, raspy every where and a bit more drone, I'd say keep it on.

Compared to the stock 08 exhaust, I'd say it did sound a little bit better, but I didn't have the cobb dp on yet, so I cant give you an accurate telling on it. Def get a dp first, does change a bit. If you wanted a little vroom I'd look for an SPT, I love those but couldnt find one for the right price so I settled on the stock one, which is nice cause I'm like a ninja with my car being all quiet and hatch like

I spent 120 on the exhaust and another 120 on the tips from canada. I can always link you to the tips!

I did everything myself. I took my time, take a lot of time to get it right, don't just hack away, do it slowly. I think I went through 3 hand saw blades. and use some sand paper to make it smooth.
