we bought one the other day at work from the auction, fortunately, we found it in enough time to arbitrate so we were able to send it back. It was an 11' kia forte... car smelt fine and drove fine. It wasnt until our tech looked in the engine bay, got suspicious and started pulling the door jam plastic to find clay dust inside the car...

The dealer had cleaned it up very well... sneaky people out there!

Flood cars should just be written off and crushed.

I'd buy that for a dollar!

No really, I'll gladly pay $1 for a 2012, or 2013 Sandy flood car.

If you could get one SOOOPER cheap it would be worth it just for things like the glass and wheels/tires. There are lots of parts that wouldn't matter if they had been flooded so if the car was a match to one you have or are purchasing and the deal was right...

Yeah if it was cheap enough it would not be bad, but if they are not disclosed then it would be awful.

If its super cheap I don't see how people are screwed. Obviously its a flooded vehicle. It's a risk people take to buy super cheap.

It has a salvaged title, there's nothing sneaky with this one.

Worth it for parting out alone, OEM cats are expensive.

As long as they have salvage titles... nothing illegal or outright immoral there. You get what you pay for.

I wonder if these cars actually run. I'd drop $1,700 on a brand new Mini and take a chance. Regardless of salvage title.

I found a 2013 Boss 302 with the Recaro package for 6 grand under MSRP at Jersey City Ford... I am almost positive it has flood damage and they aren't owning up to it...

I agree. It's better to get SOMETHING from these cars rather than nothing. As long as they're saying they're salvaged, everything should be good. It would be a terrible waste to just dispose of them. Better to have them sit around and keep dropping the price until someone figures they can either fix it for cheap or recoup their "loss" by selling the parts off.

It would be awesome to get extra wheels, headlights and seats for cheap, I would think, if I were buying from someone that purchased a salvaged car. *shrug*

Hmm. A tasty 04 STI with stock intake, which suggests few/no mods.

Most electronics in cars are there by consumer demand. Private industry developed them because buyers wanted safer, more reliable vehicles.

Hmm. A trail edition 4Runner would give me all the sweet bits for my 4Runner on the cheap.

There is a Nissan GTR current bid is $32k http://www.copart.com/c2/homeSearch....SEARCH_RESULTS
Also saw a 2012 WRX (current bid is $150) but it appears to have had an owner since there was a COBB intake
