Default 14 impreza interior illumination

Does anyone know how to install or find instructions for the 2014 subaru impreza (base model) footwell illumination kit? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Go there and look under Accessory Installation Guides. I was gonna tackle this project until I learned how much an OEM kit costs. x_x

Yeah, total ripoff. You can get like 20 feet of illumination and do some cool ass stuff with it for about $20 including extra wires and connectors to connect it to a 12v source.

That kit is for the '12 - '14 WRX/STI

The kit for the '14 Impreza 2.0 is about $130

Are you installing in a WRX or an Impreza 2.0?

He said 2014 Subaru Impreza Base. I seriously doubt he meant WRX base.

He has a '14 WRX listed under his vehicle. Reason I ask.

Well let's teach OP how to properly identify cars on NASIOC.

WRX = WRX
STI = STI
Impreza = N/A Impreza, not WRX or STI

I read his post as meaning Impreza 2.0i and that kit is quite expensive at $135 :-p

I think the 2.0 version also includes the LED for the storage pocket in front of the shifter where the WRX doesn't, and I think they mount in different locations. I'm sure you could make the $35 one work, just not sure how much work it would be to do so.

I have been wondering the same thing, but not so much to really deep dive it as I have a few other projects on the car ahead of this project.

One part of me wants to think SOA is trying to gouge us. :roll eyes:

Only thing I can think is that there may be more of a "harness" with one than another, but even that makes it hard for me to see a 4x price increase.

Current gen vs previous gen. I'd expect the price to drop when Subaru releases a new model Impreza.

Also, I haven't seen the actual Subaru brand kit in real life, but I bought a couple of different LEDs from SuperBrightLEDs to see how it would look, and guess what, they're super bright. Even the lower lumen ones, the output is pretty obnoxious and not subtle at all.

Nope, I just looked at the installation instructions for the 2.0 product. No LED for the storage pocket.

That's why you buy one of the 20 foot strips on amazon for $20 that comes with a remote to dim and change color...

I just purchased the kit for the Forester for about $30 or so. Still haven't installed it, but I'll probably hack and wire it sometime before summer is over.

Sigh. I'm actually more interested in illuminating the cup holders than the footwells. I wish they sold something like this in the D-shape of our Impreza 2.0 cupholders:

I'd rather pull up my center console area and install a cup cooler/heater.

But I'd also rather drive an E63 Wagon

You're a genius. I never knew that. Omg I feel like an apple hit you in the head and you just discovered gravity.

Yes. I have a 14 wrx. As my profile states. And my buddy has a 14 base model. I know it's difficult to make friends these days. But you should try.

Thank you for the assistance with this project.

Additionally the '11-14 wrx/sti comes with instructions and the base impreza does not.

Thanks for clearing up the car. I wasn't certain as you had the '14 WRX under your car and they seem to be 2 separate kits. Good luck with install. You should get a hold of where you bought the kit from. For the cost if it, I would think a couple of sheets of paper would not be out of the question.

I'm trying to help out a buddy of mine. I ordered the footwell lighting from Subarugenuineparts.com. My kit came with instructions. My buddy ordered his kit for his base model from subarugenuineparts.com as well, however his did not come with instructions. I figured it would be similar (having most of it pre-wired) but i wanted to make sure. I also looked at the Techinfo site and tried to search for accessories instructions and couldn't come up with anything. Thank you to all!
