Does TireRack offer programable TPMS sensors?
Anyone know if Tirerack offers the Orange, Schrader or some other brand programmable TPMS sensors?
please resist the temptation of say "just ignore the light".

They have sensors configured for most cars but I guess that's not what you are looking for.

I've asked them before and they dont offer them. You can only get programmables from local installers. Tire Rack wont even tell you the ID numbers of the non programmable sensors they put on your wheels so you could easily use the cheaper ATEQ programming system.
One would think they'd be able to use programmables and have at least some of their installer network coordinate with the system. Maybe it's not that easy but it really seems like they rather you have to take the car to the dealer to get reprogrammed every fall/spring. |

Heard back from Luke, boilermaker29 is right. TireRack does not carry the programmable TPMS sensors. I found out that Discount Tire in my neck of the woods does for about $60 per sensor.
So the options as I see them are: spend ~$240 for the programmables at discount. spend ~$100 a year at the dealer. spend ~$150 for a ATEQ Quickset. |

But I think the TireRack sensors are also about $150 per set of wheels. So don't you have to factor that cost in too (or do you already have those)?

Two shops that I have contacted over the phone said they can program sensors, but wouldn't say what brand as they want me to buy the sensors at their shop. Hopefully the options and cost will come down soon. |

Schrader/Bartech has a TPMSPAD, a USB powered roughly 4"x4" pad that can both read and program a sensor(EZ - sensor) set on top of it with software on a PC. I have seen it listed for the Mid $200s on occasion. Not cheap enough yet to get me to buy it and the down side that the sensor needs to be out of the wheel to use it.
