Default sti long block swap to 02 wrx

Hey guys my 02 is due to spin a bearing. so i decided to do ej257 swap.

So this this is what im planning to do

Brand new ej257 s.b.
sti heads with non avcs cams to retain stock harness ecu.

Reason i dont want to go forged internals is for reliability purposes.
i just want stage 2 sti power 300 whp 320wtq
with so many sti's going 60k plus on stage 2 tune.

any imput is greatly appreciated

At first I was going to do a hybrid, but now that I need heads I'm thinking about getting new 2.5L head castings for my '03 WRX. I'm curious what the recommended setup is for WRXs running STI 2.5L long blocks w/ AVCS disabled. Should the oil lines be completely disabled or what? I know about the cam holes. I already have Kelford 272 non-avcs cams, and am curious how everything will finally be laid out. I think the OP could benefit from this info as well.

You need to keep the avcs lines they also feed oil to the front cam journals

if 300 whp / 320 ft-lbs is all you want you could
achieve this with the short block and abit of machine work
on your 2.0 heads.

sell the 2.5 heads to offset the machine cost for your 2.0
heads.

but with your vf22 probably close to the limit for the compressor.

if you don't have 650 cc injectors already..you're going to need
them.

That should be a reliable power level for that block right ?? With proper tune .
And I'm currently running the light blue 06 wrx injectors witch I believe are only 565s ..car currently is making 280whp 260wtq on safe tune ..and power is fine for me. I just know it won't last much longer 150k on her now ..I just want little more torque
