Default Just Arrived in Summerville, SC

Hey All,

I'm a transplant from SCIC and new to the Summerville/Charleston area in SC. Haven't seen too many scooby's around since I got here... seen a lot of domestics though (go figure )... Anyhow, just stopping in to say hi and hope to meet some of the locals.

Welcome, although I'm moving to FL very soon. I'll be back up for the black lake autox though, wouldn't miss that!

There's plenty of scoobs, we're just unorganized.

Here she is in her current trim.

I'll be working out of Charleston AFB for next few years, so I'll be in the area a good while. I noticed that there is what seems to be a pretty good meet in the Columbia area, is there anything like that in the Charleston/Summerville area?

I know what you mean about waving to Subarus when not being in one. We were driving our Suburban across the states and I'd find myself waving and just getting odd looks.

Bro, that looks EXACTLY like mine, just different wheels. I'm in the Summerville area as well. Matt, they probably look at you like because of your mullet.

Probably so, I didn't even realize I had a mullet until I bought the T/A.

Hey guys, I just moved down to Charleston a few months ago. I have a 2002 wrx that's been race prepped sitting in storage up in wisconsin where I'm from. If there was any good racing in charleston, I'd have an excuse to bring it down. I have a 135i as a daily driver now that I'm looking forward to autocrossing, but there are so few events. I really thought the scene here would be a lot better considering the weather and the proximity to the nascar capital of the world. I'll keep my eye out for you guys.

What kind of racing? Nasa runs quite a few track days/ races around the area they have one every month during the season. I'm heading to road atlanta next weekend, roebling road is only 2 hrs away, and cmp about the same. If that's not your thing there are drags strips in dorchester and orangeburg. Autoxing is only a once a month thing around here if that,

I agree, a meet and greet for us newbies would definitely be cool.

Being so new here, I'm not too familiar with the area. How's the Hooter's in Charleston sound?

Yes Hooters in North Charleston is a great location right in the middle for everyone to get to easily. When? Can't this weekend, going up to Florence to watch the UFC fights with some friends.

Well, being that I'm still trying to get the house in order, this weekend would be out for me as well.

I propose that we try and get this as organized and scheduled out for at least a couple weeks from now to give everyone time to plan and set up for this. Any suggestions?

Ok since nobody has taken the horns on this i'll do it even though i'm a total noob to this community.

Sat. Aug 30th at Hooters in North Charleston around 18:00 (6:00 pm). We can all park in the movie parking lot or across the street in the mall parking lot. I'm going for the movies. If everyone is in agreement then i'll see you there if not call me a total chode and come up with something better

Sure I'm cool with changing it to the 30th. I'm going to make a separate thread about this.

Welcome to chucktown guys.

I will be moving to Jax this weekend so I'm out for the meet.

The autox program is a good one. There may only be one event a month on average but our season is much longer. Site acquisition is a problem down here as lot owners want lots of money. The mid-west (I came from IL) is a lot cheaper and lots are available more since there aren't as many people. Central Illinois autox's would draw maybe 60 people on average but SCR events bring over 120 on average.

Be sure you bring the car down for the Michelin Tire event at the Black Lake. You won't be disappointed!
