OMGHi2U A quick, light de-n00bing introduction...

I figure I might as well just leave this here while I take in the forum.
While I may be a n00b on here, I am not new to cars by any means lol. I've had Mazdas since I got my license but have always wanted a GC8 RS, or maybe an older LGT. So I'm on here to do my research and get to know more about the cars and what to look for should I decide to pull the trigger one day...you know, rather than just jumping on and asking to be spoon-fed everything that can be covered with searching and skimming.

Anyway, thought I'd say I find the UI here pretty nice as well, everything is easy to navigate and I've noticed the low B.S. factor in the FS sections, very nice.

As for myself, I'm currently on my 3rd Miata, a 2002 Special Edition in titanium metallic. Mod list is something kinda long, so I'll skip on the whole thing...but Flyin Miata, Ohlins and Garage Vary are some of the highlights. I ran in the ATL region autoX for awhile, placed 2nd in SM2/SSM a couple of time, have done a few track days between TGP and RA and retired from drifting years ago.

Have a picture while I continue to dive into my reading.

That is a BA Miata, sir. Some years ago when I was into autocrossing (in the NE Tennessee area) I used to HATE Miatas... because my big fat Z car couldn't keep up.

If you are in GA and are serious about taking the plunge, check out wrxatlanta.com . Good guys over there, and you might see some occasional posts there from me under a different author's name. Local people are on there with all sorts of Subarus, not just WRXs.

Thanks guys
I guess you can say I've been around forums long enough to know proper forum etiquette lol

J.- Yeah, I know some of the local guys, mostly the ones that post on 4touge (I'm IdiotPilot on there). I've seen a few of their names while skimming through here. Been awhile since I've hung out with any of them though...school and work have me pretty tied up right now.

Before I wanted to get a WRX, I was giving those miatas a pretty hard look. Please tell me you're going to keep that sexmobile even though you're looking at buying a new car.

Unfortunately, I'd be using it as bargaining power for something aka a straight trade. I'd like to think I could find someone with a swapped GC8 that is pretty clean or maybe a LGT with some nice mods in exchange...eventually. Now, it's nice to be wishful, but I'm here to see what kind of issues I'm looking at, what kind of questions to ask any potential deal, and what kind of performance I can expect. Mostly though, it's the potential issues on how the swap was done, who did it, if it's emissions compliant, what parts were used/replaced. So by reading what others have done for a STi/WRX swap into that chassis, I can try to learn when someone has "done it right" or screwed it up haha. I don't want the latter of the two. I know what has gone into my car and all aspects of the modifications I have with my car, so I want a similar understanding for whatever the next ride might be.
