Hey guys, just checked out a few subaru wrx's and I'm ready to buy one. The best option price wise is an 08 wrx with 100k on it, for $16000. (Canadian) now all other options are at about 50-80k for roughly $23000.
My main concern with the high km is maintenance. Is there any big things I should be worried about soon? The bottom of the block was replaced at 50k. And a turbo gasket was recently replaced. Other than that just little things like lights n what not. The car is pretty near mint besides some curb rub on the front bumper. No mods other than a muffler delete. Looking to buy as soon as this Friday and would love for everyone's experienced advise! Thanks, Shawn

You know you are getting old when you give advice like this. For the type of money you are spending I would say put the money towards a new wrx instead buying used A used one might leave you with someone else's problem heck you prob could get an sti based on how much mods you would do to this older car. .

haha gettin old eh, well thanks for the reply!
i dont plan on doing any mods in the near future as im trying to save money. i just got laid off so i cant make any payments to a new car, and wouldnt be able to afford the insurance unfortunately. I'm satisfied with the car completely as is, im just concerned with the km. if im going to have to replace a wack of parts and if its not going to last me to long then ya, id rather buy one with less km. Thanks, Im new to Subaru and really looking forward to getting this! |

How much are new wrxs? in the states a new one is about $24k so its prob better to go new if its only a couple grand more and you get better insurance/apr rates on a loan.
If youre still gonna go used have a seasoned pro look at it If youre not gonna do that then just go for it and hope they didnt drive it hard and beat it to hell. Theres no way people can tell you whats wrong with the car if we cant see it. Good luck. |

Ya i understand what youre saying. My main question is, should i be worried about alot of problems around 100k ? as in alternator, timing belt water pump ect..
To buy new will run me about 31k |

The 08 WRX is the only WRX NOT to buy.
Look for an 09+ |

Ya, the price difference in my area is jut such a jump. I know about the horsepower difference between the 2 and would like to get to have an 09, but the price and the options or color (previously owned) aren't to great :/
I'm mainly attracted to this car because it's such a low price and it's black. |

And I'd check on that insurance, if I were you. Some older cars cost as much, if not more to insure than a new one. Easier it is to total the car out, the more likely the insurance company will have to pay out a bigger payment. More risk = higher premiums. Good luck! |

Thanks for the input everyone. I think I'm gonna throw in the extra cash and get the 09. Gotta travel pretty far to get it, but ithibk it's worth it in the Lon run
