Default '13 WRX Quad Projector Retrofit

Don't post on here much... but I do frequent the classifieds... but here's a first post... I think.

The first 'major' mod on the car... Currently at 485 miles at the creation of this thread....

Thanks to the guys at Retrofit Source... Always coming through for my HID needs. For this project I used:
FX-R Projectors
Mini H1 Projectors
Iris Shrouds
Morimoto 5Five Bulbs/Ballasts
Morimoto 3Five Bulbs/Ballasts
I think that's it aside from the hardware and paint to make it all work.

Anyway, pics: (May not be everyone's cup of tea, but you don't own my car so... :wiggles

Not much of a DIY... but here are some pics I found that I snapped during...

remove bumper yadda, yadda...

bake headlight

Here's what you get after you bake and open the light

Stock projector is the one on the bottom left... After a ton of dremeling and test fits... end result

Wall shots. Your output against the garage door looks like a PnP kit...

@OP: clean install.

I was curious about that as well. The distance to the wall is definitely too close to infer the steady-state beam output behavior. Maybe a farther shot can help? I can't tell if the slight high beam like cutoff pattern is the (short) distance effect or if one of the shields are LHD-RHD swapped?

Interesting that the foreground limiter of the FX-R seem to do nothing compared to the Mini H1 (version 5.0 I assume).

So do you have both projectors lit up on the low beam, and high beam is just the inner switched on high?

It's the short distance because i'm pushing 50w through the FX-R and 35w through the MH1... They're all LHD.

All projectors are lit at all times when headlights are on, and they're all Bi-Xenon so they're all high beams as well.

We had thatt on our shop car that was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. Luckily we took the headlights out before the storm to swap out the CCFL to LED's lol Car is a total loss.

But i have to say I AM LOVING your lights and setup man. GREAT JOB. FYI the color scheme is stellar. Keep up the great work.

Agreed. I think it looks great, awesome DIY. +1 for originality. I am just not a fan of the red lenses or the green horns. Kind of contrasts how clean the car looks. Takes away from the unique blurple paint.

So you took out the stock projectors and put two aftermarket projectors in each headlight? Why not just leave in the stockers and throw some in the high beams that were bi-xenon?

Thanks... The lenses showed more Red than I thought they would... and I'm still playing with what colors would contrast well with PBP.... So we'll just call this Holiday themed...

Because the stock projectors aren't bi-x... and the housing is made of some kind of plastic so HID's have a chance of melting the housing overtime. Also there's the fresnel lens which doesn't give a clean cut-off.

What size is the FX-R? are they 2.5" or 3"?

The iris shrouds are for the H1? You didnt need an aftermarket shroud for the low beam? The stock one fit just fine?

That's an awesome set up! I'm working on a FX-R retrofit for an Impreza coupe right now.

What's your reasoning for putting in the MH1s? And any particular reason you went with 55 watt instead of 35 watt ballasts? What bulbs are you running in each projector?

@wrxphantom I really hope that's just the camera and you guys aren't running like 12,000k bulbs
