Default If Your Car Was Damaged by Hurricane Sandy, SOA Can Help

I can't recall reading about this before. Below is one of the special offers you'll see at http://www.subaru.com/special-offers/index.html if you've entered a correct zip code (such as 10001).
Quote:
Subaru Hurricane Sandy Disaster Assistance Program

If your vehicle was damaged or lost as a result of Hurricane Sandy, Subaru is offering $500 credit on the purchase or lease of a replacement vehicle. This special offer is good toward any new 2012 or 2013 Subaru or any Certified Pre-owned Subaru, and is available to residents of the mid-Atlantic and Northeast[] affected by Hurricane Sandy. Now through January 2, 2013.
  • Offer valid November 1, 2012 to January 2, 2013
  • Customers must contact Subaru Customer Service at 1-800-SUBARU3 or via e-mail at customer@subaru.com for official program rules and determination of eligibility
  • Customer does not need to currently own a Subaru to qualify
  • Proof of location and loss as a result of Hurricane Sandy must be provided, including but not limited to photo(s), copy of valid drivers license, insurance card for proof of ownership, insurance (FEMA or other) claim form and damage appraisal form that includes location, date and cause
  • Customer will be provided a claim number that can be given to any dealership as proof of eligibility
  • Limit one offer per qualified damaged unit
  • Dealer sets actually selling price of the vehicle
  • Customer should negotiate the best deal and then present the claim number
  • Customer must take delivery of any new previously untitled 2012 or 2013 model year Subaru vehicle or Subaru Certified Pre-Owned vehicle from a participating retailer inventory by the expiration date
  • Offer is transferable within the same household with proof of residency
  • May not be combined with any other Subaru promotional offer (except Subaru Reward Dollars) unless specifically allowed by that offer

I hope it's sarcasm because you can get 500$ off any car the moment you walk into a dealer and say no to the 1st offer they give you. I would be ashamed putting this press release and pretending that SOA wants to help those who lost so much by giving 500$ off a car that any dealer would give you anyway. AND it is also limited to whatever is on the dealer's lot.

pretty ****ty if you want my opinion.

I guess you didn't read it correctly. It clearly states to negotiate your best price first then whip out the $500 discount.

Yeah... Reading ftw

Of course, some people will always have it in for corporations,no matter what they release. IMO, good for Subaru.

Sounds like you can negotiate down to invoice/whatever you would have gotten in the first place, and then get another $500 off with no questions asked.

Again... any dealer will discount a brand new car or cpo on their lot by 500, at any point in time... and given how the new subarus are selling, you will end up paying close msrp...

Getting this discount requires more work than the vip program.... and this should have been a way to qualify for vip pricing.

AND again, get the dealer to go to their lowest price and then SOA will get it down another $500 for you. What are the other car maker's offering for the Sandy victims?

Dont care what others do, its still ****ty. Its taking advantage of sandy to draw ppl to the dealership with an useless offer.

How come no vip program for them? You can get qualified by joining outdoors clubs but having been affected by sandy and having documented insurance claims is not enough...

So, 2% under invoice is not taking advantage of Sandy to draw buyers and $500 off is?

Car @ invoice means real money savings, offered to those who need it.

500$ off is an empty offer that anyone can get.

Use your brain, and learn to be critical of what u see. And maybe learn how money works.

If $500 isn't such a big deal, I'll give you my paypal account and you can just send me $500.

Just because you think an offer is useless doesn't mean that it is useless to others. Have you looked at the current transaction prices? Outback, Legacy, Forester and Tribeca are being sold for way less than the VIP pricing. So, $500 off of negotiated price is much better than the invoice. Do some research before you put your foot in your mouth the next time.

I simply cannot beleive all the hoopla over a catagory 1 hurricane.

In Texas we do not even shut down school for that.
Shame on NYC for not being able to handle such a mild storm.

The only thing super about it was the hype on the TV. Shame on NYC for not being prepared for 70-80mph winds. Its pathetic. The people there are suffering needlessly because the city is run by clowns.

The 500 dollars is a nice gesture in my view if you can get a car as low as you can go then get 500 more. I think it is a great GESTURE

This statement shows who is ignorant... Customers are buying 2013 Outback and Legacy at 9.0~12.75% off of MSRP. Buyers like you, who are anticipating to pay MSRP are a car salesman's wet dream. Oh well, whatever floats your boat...
