I wouldn't freak out about a broken bolt, because anyone I take my car to would extract it if they did break it. I do most of my work myself anyways so its not something I have to work about.

yeah...right....

Mechanics like you are the reason there is only 1 or 2 shops I would actually take my car too. Seeing your so smart you knew they were going to snap, you should have said to him that there was a good chance they would and asked if he still wanted it done. Instead your snapped his bolts and looked like an idiot. Time for you get back to reading on how to be a mechanic.

Hey man you need to calm down. I understand what you mean about having people flip out when you do work to their car even if they have no clue to what they are talking about. But attacking this guy for something that was completely out of his power is insane. Don't talk about assumptions like you aren't making any. For all you know this guy could of saved for 10 years to buy this car and he wants it to be perfect. It's pretty obvious that something else has you heated because all this guy is doing is defending himself while you keep attacking him. I don't normally get in the middle of things so don't take anything out on me

yeah

well....this is where the kiddies get schooled

and this thread is about kiddie boiz making a BIG DEAL about things that are as insignifigant as they can possibley get

it is virtually impossible to do work on cars and NOT have things like this happen

but kiddie boiz are SO WRAPPED UP IN THEIR bull**** that their whole personna is their car and if you mar it in ANY WAY they freak out
which is a real problem for those who see these people for the **** they are

THIS thread is proof that what i have been saying for years is true

Not sure if trolling or drunk.

Either way, after 130k miles, I pulled off my heat shield and didn't have a single one rusted on. Did it again on my buddies car and same thing and his had never been taken off.

That being said, OP, you decide if it's that bad. You might just try and get a **** bucks out of them to pay for the touch up paint. I wouldn't beg for a new wheel for that, though.

full stop.....YOU have a texas car...NOT a northern car that has seen salt in the winter

TOTALLY different

and aint no way in hell a 5yo subaru that has seen any 'winter' up north will NOT be rusted all to hell in several key spots

and the heatshield bolts are THOSE spots

i promise....they usually look like rust colored mushroom heads sticking out of the heatshield.....no real shape to them other than a mound of rust

it is usually easiest to just use a hammer and chisel to take them apart

havnt been drunk in years
