Uncle scotty is right about those bolts if anyone who knows at all about mechanic work will now those bolts are always rusted on if the car has ever seen a real winter.

For anyone to worry about them is a fool.

Why cant we all just get along

To op I have had taken multiple sets of wheels to get them dismounted and remounted some come back clean and others have had scratches in them. Yea I was upset with the ones scratched know that one set was a brand new set of rota's and the other was a set that I put alot of hard work prepping and painting them. Just talk with the shop normally they will work something out to keep a customer, but don't go extreme asking for a new set of wheels. If it it bad enough then yea ask for a new wheel. I know it is very upsetting and frustrating when you put your hard earned cash into a vehicle and it gets messed up but mistakes happen. I've worked on cars/motorcycles for a long time and things do happen. Most of my family are mechanics lol.

To Uncle Scotty-

I am in PA there are some bolts that suck when they are rusty and cant get them off without breaking them. I agree with that statement. I haven't had many issues with my car with rust but have worked on plenty that the rust does it toll and you have to break them to get them off. Speaking of things screwing up I tried swapping my seats out today and the last bolt on my drivers front left seat rail just spins so tomorrow I have to cut it out to even change my seat. Things happen cars don't stay pristine for ever they wear down

The rims on my 2011 were scratched all to hell when I bought it used from the dealership. For whatever reason, it didn't bother me. Of course I don't schedule photos shoots and bull**** for my Subaru to post on assnovel, but they are beyond repair.

If you had, and I was on the jury, you'd have been aquitted. That, and the "ever since you" guys. You know, "Ever since you added air to my tires, my engine skips, and it's your fault."

Next time a tech quotes out a job for you, he should include the time to drill out and retap EVERY BOLT HE TOUCHES on the job, just in case it snaps, no matter how insignificant. Then he should keep the car in his shop for 3 or 4 days while he lets multiple applications of PB Blaster soak in (you get charged for the chemicals and application/soak time, too). He should also include the cost of multiple drill bits, because those things get dull drilling out broken bolts.

Or, you could have the work done correctly, with less cost and time, and learn to live with the possibility of a broken bolt not being repaired that has no effect on the operation of the system or component.
