Most likely the clutch was abused before you bought it but since you have only owned it for 9 months, it may have been on the way out when you bought it making it harder for you to determine the slip. I noticed slip in mine a year ago on a pull, but did not have the time to replace it until last week. To be honest, if you drive the car under regular conditions(easy 1st gear, change around 4-5k without full throttle) you may have never felt the slip. I probably had another 5-10k miles if I drove it easy, however, I missed being able to feel boost and finally had time to replace it. I only noticed it in 3-6th gear past 3k under full throttle. If you did not see this range that often, the clutch can wear out without your knowledge. Old school clutches would show with engagement points, now with hydraulic, only torque will let you know there is an issue.
