I can get a brand new, unprimed bumper from a somewhat local dealership (heuberger) for just over $200 local pickup... The few XV bumpers that are on ebay are damaged, and end up closer to $300.

I'm not worried about sourcing the part, it's whether the cladding on the arch is easy to remove with no holes. It appears to be molded on though, looking at the pics on ebay. So that would mean I would need to get the arch molding for the fenders as well. And I don't think it would look good to do just the rear arch, so I'd probably have to do the front arch as well, which means I'd probably need to do the front bumper, which has different fog lights... costs start adding up...

I guess I'll just keep the Impreza Sport bumpers...

The fender arch ends are moulded into the front and rear bumpers, so it's not THAT direct of a swap...unless you're ok with strange little flare corners on your bumpers that don't mate up to fender flares. I'm working on a little somethin' that will hopefully allow me the best of both worlds...an Impreza front bumper on my Crosstrek. I'll post up the results if I ever get around to pulling it off.

I've also wondered what it would take to mount up the flares and skirts. I'd be ok without the front bumper because the Impreza foglight bezel adds enough black contrast for my taste that it'd balance things out.

That being said, I like the concept of the Crosstrek but I just don't feel you're getting $3400 worth of upgrades over the Impreza.

At MSRP of $500 under a Forester I'd much rather have a Forester.

Thoughts?

That looks great. Would a body shop sell those fender trim parts cheaper maybe?

This doesn't look like the XV cladding. It looks aftermarket. Any ideas on how they did it?
