Default 1996 Impreza L Wagon Brake Upgrade

Hi there.
I have a 1996 Impreza L wagon and am looking to upgrade the brakes.
I found brakes from a 2008 Forester for sale on here and was wondering
if they would fit? I have been told that most Subaru brakes are interchangeable but with my luck I would probably buy the one kind of brakes that would not fit my car.
**Would I need to change the master cylinder as well?
**Would I need to changer the proportioning valve...to change the brake bias?

Thanks for any info!!

Mike

Default WRX Brakes

Just got a set of 2002 WRX brakes as well as master cylinder and proportioning valve (PV). PV is completely different than mine. Was wondering what kind of PV I would need?

Thanks

Did you get just the fronts or fronts and rears?

I've seen some people locally do the swap with even just the fronts and didn't swap out the valve. I do understand the importance of it, but just saying it 'might' not be super critical.
