I like Redline SI-1 Complete fuel system cleaner, super concentrated, although you can use it in every tank, if you wanted....

What about the cheapr ones that you can buy at the local stores. Are any good. Does it matter? Can I just use any type of cleaner and put it in my fuel?
I feel the need to try one soon. |

I think it boils down to the old adage, "You get what you pay for" More expensive, when it comes down to automotive chemicals anyway, is better....
I have used Valvoline Synpower cleaner, they have that at K-Mart and the like.... |

From my personal experience, the best off the shelf stuff that's available at most auto parts store is Chevron.

Redline Injector cleaner, can be purchased reasonably cheap from subaruparts.com.
If you use them for other maintenance supplies (air filter, drain pan washers, fuel filters, etc...), you can just add on a bottle or two. |

I agree with notorious: Chevron Techtron (sp??) is the most effective cleaner that I have found. I have also found that it is much more effective if you put a full (large = 16 ox) bottle in with about a quarter tank of gas, run it down to E, then fill and put in another bottle of cleaner. Squeaky clean. I have silenced noisey injectors using this 1-2 punch.

I just popped in a bottle of the redline stuff - and trust me it's worth every penny. The bargain brand stuff never smoothed out my throttle response like this stuff did.
Try it - i think you will be impressed. |

For the FI Cleaner - just dump the whole bottle in the gas tank before you fill up with gas.

If these Subaru injectors are pintel-less (sp) like the Nissan one (or I would suspect any modern injector) they do not need to be cleaned. Injector cleaning is hooey unless you have an 80 Volvo or something.

This is an "02 car!!! Unless tou are using "Bob's fuel center" gas, I wouldn't bother till the car has significant mileage (60k or so).
If you must, we have had best overall results with Techron. Adam www.z1auto.com |

Which cleaner is good for cleaning the back of the intake valves and other parts of the system after the spray nozzle? I don't want any deposits on any of that stuff?
