Default 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Revealed

Quote:
Mitsubishi revealed the all-new 2014 Outlander at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show last week, showing off not just a new look inside and out but some high-tech equipment inside. Mitsubishi designers and engineers have given the 2014 Outlander a fresh new contemporary face that is both appealing and functional with reduced aerodynamic drag.

Further aiding fuel economy is a lightweight body that tips the scales approximately 200 pounds less than that of the outgoing Outlander – all while providing a high level of collision safety and structural rigidity through use of high-tensile steel.

The 2014 Outlander's new interior design emphasizes ergonomics, aesthetics, comfort and quality. From the new soft-touch instrument panel to the eye-catching gloss black center waterfall to the lovely wood grain trim, the interior of this handsome crossover exudes opulence.

Thanks to a re-engineered version of the Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) system with continuously-variable valve lift, the 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine combined with a continuously-variable transmission (CVT) will deliver fuel economy that will place the all-new Outlander among the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the 7-passenger as standard in the CUV segment.

The premium GT trim level will be offered with a more powerful 24-valve 3.0-liter V-6/6-speed automatic transmission configuration.

In addition to the standard amenities, available features include a next-generation navigation system, a 710-watt Rockford-Fosgate sound system, a power tailgate activated from the driver's seat or by the keyless entry remote fob, and advanced safety systems including a camera-based Lane Departure Warning system and radar-based Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Mitigation systems as well as the latest version of Mitsubishi's extraordinary Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel drive system.

Plug-In Hybrid Coming!
With the introduction of the 100% electric-powered Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Mitsubishi Motors will soon launch a plug-in hybrid version of the all-new Outlander.

Set to arrive at Mitsubishi dealerships in North America in early 2014, the Outlander PHEV will make use of highly efficient front-and rear-mounted electric motors as well as an internal-combustion engine along with a cutting-edge new form of Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system that makes the most of the dual electric motor/internal combustion engine configuration to maximize traction, handling and vehicle stability. The all-new Outlander PHEV can operate in purely EV, Parallel and Series Hybrid mode, depending on driver mode selection, battery charge level and vehicle speed.

With its sleek new interior/exterior design direction, high-quality cabin materials, and reduced fuel consumption, the all-new 2014 Outlander is an affordably-priced crossover that is an ideal vehicle for the cost-conscience buyer.

Looks like they'll continue their path to implosion. That thing is hideous, inside and out. Just compare that to a Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0t.

It was actually revealed at the Paris motor show. The styling is not too extreme. Seems like they want to play it safe. Overall seems like an improvement. I am intrigued by the PHEV version. Two electric motors plus gas engine for a total combined output of around 300 hp and S-AWC.

My only gripe with the outlander was the fuel economy. The interior layout, low cargo floor, rear tail gate, dash and audio system made it way nicer than the rav4 v6.

Reminds me of a French car. Like a Citroen...

Not sure what I think of it yet.

I saw it at the LA Auto Show and I thought the interior was actually pretty nice. It looked much better in person than pictures, it was locked so I couldn't feel the materials though. It's tough to make sure you can fight falling asleep looking at the exterior to get close enough to see the interior though. Actually it looked a bit like the new Range Rover in person, but I thought that looked bad too.

Exterior is a bit robot-weird up front. I dig the interior, though. I don't like the Ford/Kia-esque miles-of-center-console-plastic look that's in vogue at the moment so the relative simplicity of the Outlander's getup is refreshing.

I'm pretty sure the Outlander is the only car Mitsubishi consistently makes money on.

They make money on the non-EVO Lancer and Outlander Sport too. Problem is they were banking on the iMEV as the way forward and it sucks.

In a NZ autocar mag, they said the Lancer would drop in 2014 with styling similar to the Outlander and Mirgage. I wouldnt have high hopes for the Evo!!

wtf? did they have the accounting department design this thing?

The current front ends looks so much better. I really hoped mitsu would figure things out but this just looks really bad for them

That grille looks totally retro/throwback to an era before my time:

Mitsu should only make Evo variants. EVO EVERYTHING!
