That's actually saying a lot for Honda. They've built a loyal customer base that doesn't care about the actual car, who will just buy it because it has a Honda badge. That's a great position to be in.

This right here is what's so very wrong about Marchionne. I'm European myself and sympathize with him. But setting that aside... In this instance, he seems to have no clue what the American market is about, and wants to sell what's attractive back home, instead of what sells cars here. This does not bode well for Chrysler.

I understand the educated, enthusiast buyer is far outnumbered by the blind deaf and dumb but, some ideas posted could be awesome sales hits. Diesel light duty pickups like the tacoma, more wagons, etc. |

Wow you guys have much higher expectations of this car than I do. When I saw this car it screamed Dodge Neon come back from the dead. I picture it in Urban area's such as walmart driven by the extremely obese.

^^^Yup, that slant 6 was a tank and the 3 speed auto was very trouble free. I had a friend in high school "over 20 years ago" that had a Volare with the slant 6 with auto. We lived in Wisconsin, so he needed a couple extra Volares for doors, fenders and the odd breakdown, but overall, the car was tough.

I can remember lining up against things like Camaros and Mustangs at the corner, flooring it in Neutral and punching the number 1. Usually left some tire smoke and then got blown away by what ever I was lined up against. Of course, being a dick even then, I knew where the cops were and never got the tickets.

If Dodge wants to boost Dart sales, they need to get the heavily discounted Avengers off the lots.

lets be honest here, can Chrysler ever be worried about low sales numbers on any model? Has anyone driven a chrysler lately? I had an avenger loaner for about a week and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It was as slow as, had more body roll than and got about the same fuel economy as my 2002 Ford explorer that was in the shop getting repaired, because I got rear ended by a Dodge 1500 with sub-par brakes.

IF ANYTHING, the current one isn't worthy of the the old name. It's wrong wheel drive and only comes w/ 4 doors... The new Dart should've been a small RWD coupe and sedan starting w/ 200 hp for the base and 300+ for the GTS model. Should've been a BRZ/FR-S competitor... |
