Default GJ vs GP vehicle weight

I have a question concerning the listed vehicle weight for those that own a 2012+ Impreza sedan (GJ) and the 2012+ Impreza hatchback/wagon (GP). If anyone cares to post up the info. (weight and body style) for a comparison of "real world" weight difference between the two, please do. I only ask because I happened to look up the weight info of a 2013 GJ registered to a rental car company vs my 2013 GP and found a 900 lb. weight difference in the local DMV's database. WTF? If that's true, the Impreza sedan also weighs less than a Honda Fit. I don't think so.
Apparently the weight figure was generated using RL Polk's VIS / "vintelligence" service.
FYI, the sedan in question is listed at 2210 lbs. while my hatch is listed at a porky 3110 lbs.

The service manual shows the hatch and sedan weighing exactly the same with the same equipment. The heaviest Impreza is the CVT Sport Limited hatch at 3120 lbs. The lightest is the base 5MT of either body style at 2911 lbs.

I'd tend to believe the 3100 pound number over 2200 pounds. AWD system adds a fair bit of weight to the car. My '12 Premium hatch with CVT is registered at 3031 pounds.

2200 pounds???!!!! do you even realize what number that is? my race-prep honda s2000 stripped out weighed 2600 pounds with one gallon of gas!!! the BRZ/FRS weighs more than 2200 lbs. the Lotus Exige weighs about that much!!! 2200 lbs!!!! the tiny little prius c weighs more than that and there is nothing in that. i believe the yaris, the basic of a basic cars weighs slightly more than that. humm, i think a 1990's miata race prep cars weigh about as much.

Yeah, figured something in either the DMV's system or RL Polk's VIS system is full of crap... Unless the rental car company or someone within the DMV is being "creative" with the vehicle weight number. Vehicle registration/taxes in HI are calculated based on weight. It may be why I've been noticing a number of Impreza sedans showing up as rentals..? At the listed 2200 lbs., that's about close to a $80 difference/year from what I pay for my Mustang (stock, it weighed less than my Impreza!). So multiply that by X number of cars in a rental fleet, and the savings start adding up...
Might also pay a visit to the dealer and see if they will show me a MSO form for a Impreza sedan. Thanks for the responses!
