Well I hit a deer yesterday. I was traveling along at 55 mph and one second I was looking straight ahead and the next I saw fur right in front of me and then BAM. In the blink of an eye I went from having a car in which I enjoyed greatly to this. I sure hope she is totalled because once they are wrecked like this they are never the same.

Get it repaired by a reputable subaru dealer and it will be good as new. That's mostly superficial damage it looks like.

once they are damaged like this they are never the same? doesn't look like much more than cosmetic damage....that's always an easy fix, and usually not totaled fix unfortunately for you.

I am more or less worried about paint match. I know my FMIC and CAI was crushed and they will need replacing. I am okay which I am thankful for.

7k for that car isn't enough to total it. and the paint match will be fine. I had an "armature" paint my obs fender and bumper. looks like stock, paint matches perfectly?

The officer estimated that it was 8k worth of damage. I have 40k miles on it. its an 09. I have had bad expierence with damnge like this from a dog on my silver cobalt ss and the paint job looked awful and the place was awful to work with. I am OCD about my car and even though I know it will be "fixed" it will bother the hell out of me. Check engine light came on instantly and then it shut down so I don't know what damage was done to the engine.

Well I am not stupid you don't have to offer correction. It is being estimated tomorrow by the insurance adjuster. I am 26 not 16

Currently going through the same process, but I hit the deer at 75.
Aftermarket parts are most likely covered, but you'll need the invoice/receipt for em. Your car is likely not totalled. Damage on my car so far is estimated at about $6k, but the adjuster missed some things so it is currently at the dealer for some further teardown and inspection. Still no official word yet on whether my car is being fixed or totalled though and it's been almost 2 weeks. Mildly frustrating. Edit: Obligatory picture. Oh, and the car doesn't even have 35k miles. ![]() |

I have to agree with everyone else, that does not look like much, if any, structural damage. Fender, hood, bumper, headlight and some brackets/clips and you should be good to go.
Ask around your area which body shops to avoid, and if possible try to request OEM Subaru parts ONLY!!! There is a few body shops I sell parts to that refuse to use aftermarket anything and I know that this will be where I take my car IF anything would ever happen!! |

Doubt it's totaled, then again I am not an adjuster so you could say I have no iDEER what I'm talking about.
Glad your okay. Take it somewhere decent and it'll look new again. |

The good news: You're alive. Believe it or not but a handful of people die every year when they hit deer. So I guess your lucky there.
Did your airbags go off? |
