Default Gas blip while idle normal?

So I'm new to manual transmission so please go easy on me. After the car has been fully warmed up, and I've been driving for about 20 minutes. I would be sitting at a red light in neutral foot on the brake and even off it, and the rpm's blip up and down randomly. Is this normal? Is it just the engine staying afloat for lack of a better term?

I made some videos. Please let me know if I have nothing to worry about!

Thanks Nasioc!

Do you have your HVAC controls on defrost (full defrost or defrost/feet) by any chance? Even if the heat is fully selected and the defrost is on the AC compressor kicks on and off which causes the RPM's to jump a little.

Also...your video made my neck hurt.

Lol I'm sorry for your neck . Yeah, the compressor is awefully loud. That probably may of caused the blipping, when the compressor engages and disengages. (you can hear it) and would be reason why the issue only would occur i guess when the heat is on. Thanks!

No problem man. Whats funny is when I first got my Legacy I noticed that the RPM's jump a lot more then they ever did in any of my Honda's when the compressor kicks on and off...it's just a Subaru thing lol.

My legacy's RPM's jump up and down when I sit at a standstill, I've been wondering the same thing, is that just the compressor that causes it to do that?

If you have the a/c or defrost setting on then yes, it will cause your rpm's to jump as the compressor kicks on and off. If your a/c if off and/or not on defrost then you could have a vacuum leak somewhere.
