Let's see .. 2002 has cargo cover standard, 2-speed rear windshield wiper, and price-wise it's $50 (I think) more on the delivery charge.

I believe the changes were fairly minor. I think the 2002 now gets DRLs and a couple other options as standard.

The next Forester update is due in 2003. You'll probably see a brand new chassis and engine then.

I have heard that the US will be getting the turbo forester in 2003. That would leave me with a tough buying decision Turbo forester, WRX, or the STX. The STX might be a little too expensive though

Remember, the turbo Forester offered elsewhere is only 165hp. It is the 2.0. I think it might have a few ft/lbs of torque than the U.S. model, but all-in-all it isn't a significant difference. Now, I guess it makes a much better starting point, though...

And... the most important change... the "AWD" logo on the rear quarter window has been moved from the leading edge (front) of the window, to the trailing edge (rear) of the rear quarter window.

Also of major importance, the gold cladding on the Forester S, is slightly different.

Freight went up $30, but other than that prices did not change. When you factor inflation and the extra content, prices are actually lower (as has been the case every year since I bought my 1998, $#&^$!)

People here nailed it: DRLs, cargo cover standard, and 2 speed rear wiper. Also, a few new and different colors (my Acadia green is gone, replaced by a different green), and the lower cladding is now Slate instead of Titanium (subtle difference).

The turbo engine makes different power in different markest. In Central America, it makes 168hp, but a lot more torque than our 2.5l does, and at lower rpms too. It's a full second quicker to 60mph, more than you would expect from the hp figures.

In some markets it makes 215hp, and Japan even sells a full blown 240hp model. Sign me up!

Grr...

I wonder if it's possible to retrofit that 2-speed rear wiper motor to our '00 and older Foresters. It's really annoying to have to switch it on and off manually.

I think the main difference is the cargo cover. Not sure though.
