Default New from DFW

Ok so I am not only new to the Subi I've been in love with for the past 10 or so years but also forums. So please take it easy on me and if I break any rules please let me know. I just bought my first WRX a couple months ago. It's a 2011 hatch (base) in blue with some goodies on it. I also have a MazdaSpeed 3 that I've built so I do know a little about the performance aspect. My Mazda which is now for sale is #5 on Cobb Tuning Plano's power list at 330/365tq(Mustang). Now on to the WRX. It already had these things done (which I was planning on doing anyways and the main reason I purchased the car)

Process West TMIC
AEM Cold Air Intake
Perrin Underdrive Pulley
Perrin TIP
Perrin BOV
Cobb DP
MagnaFlow CBE
Cobb Access Port
Cobb Pro Tune(295/330)
XXR 18x9.75 wheels (gold)
Railey Armor mud flaps
Short throw shifter
Rolled fenders

I'm looking at the future mods and wanted to get some opinions since I'm still new to this platform. Here's what I looking at:

CNT FMIC
BNR 20g
Walbro 255
ID 1000cc
Retune at Cobb Plano possibly a duel tune with e85
KSport coilovers(worried about the wheel clearance with the crazy offset of the xxr)
Front lip(don't know what kind yet but I don't like the front bumper, taking suggestions)

Also I was looking at equal length headers but doesn't look like its worth the money. My hp goal is 330/370tq. I want it to hit those numbers on a conservative tune, it's a daily driver. What do y'all think?

330/370 is a goal that's not only doable, but it's a pretty practical goal for a DD. Since you sound like you already have a tuner in mind (Cobb Plano), I would recommend just asking them for their recommendations.

As for your future parts list, you may not even need a FMIC for your power goals, and even then I wouldn't get the CNT. There are much higher quality parts out there. But your tuner can help you with choices regarding turbos and especially injectors since every tuner has an injector setup they like.

I would get rid of the XXR's too. They are heavy as ****, and since you have 9.75" wide XXR's, that's especially heavy. Basically turning dead weight around. But that's up to you, really.

Your PW TMIC is more than capable of handling your power goals, so I would skip the FMIC.

Other than that it sounds like you know what you need next .. I'm sure your injectors are maxed out. Also, for a daily driver I would go with the RCE spring/bilstien combo instead of the Ksports.

Grumpy, I agree with you on the PW, I have seen some pics on this forum the had the fmic and flat hood and think that look is awesome. I'm looking into the rce/blisten combo now. There are a ton of great reviews on that set up. I was wondering if I could do the springs at first the struts later or would it be better to do them as a coilover install? My ms3 has the MazdaSpeed Springs(.8" drop and 25% stiffer) and Koni Yellow struts and love that combo. The wide wheels rub over bumps especially when I have any kind of weight in the car including people. This will not work for me because I cary product in my car. Will the springs solve this issue or do I need to replace the struts as well? I would rather still have money left for the performance upgrades I want to do.
Rob, I have worked with Cobb Plano for a while now ant trust the tuner Calvin. He is the one that recommended the fp/fi combo. That's what I will go with. As far as the turbo I have also worked with Brian at BNR and love his products and customer service. As for the CNT, I have the TBE on my ms3 and think they have a great product for the price. But I think for now I am going to scratch the fmic upgrade. I would however like to find a better wheel/tire combo for this set up. I agree with what you said about that. The set up I have looks awesome (I will post some pics) but is not useful for what I use the car for. I might be able to get away with it for now if the spring replacement works.

Thanks for the advice and ill keep y'all posted when I start making some changes.

The RCE yellows won't work with the stock struts, not sure on the blacks though.

You mentioned Koni struts on your MS3, which is also a good option with the RCE springs on the WRX ... So that is another way you could go. I personally just prefer a good strut/spring combo to coilovers ... Especially on a DD.

Just keep on researching and keep us posted ... Seeing a new member actually making informed choices (with quality parts) is a nice change around here lol.
