Thumbs up STi clutch hose

It's braided stainless steel, with a plastic sheathing, and those stylin' pink STi tips at either end.

Installation: piece of cake. Remove intercooler, and then remove existing hose. You will need a 10 and 14mm socket for the pair of bolts at the hose. Then install new hose, taking care to bleed the clutch system after doing so. The system takes brake fluid, so just use your favorite.

Performance: well, it's a clutch hose. It ain't going to change the world. Now having said that, it is easier to modulate and apply the clutch smoothly, which points to the efficacy of this as a feel mod. It's along the same level as stainless brake lines. It's subtle, but if you know your car, you know it's there. Less lurching and all that jazz. There is only slightly more effort required at the clutch pedal, but not by an appreciable amount.

Irvine Subaru, but other vendors have it, as well.

Also interesting, is that the stock clutch hose is nicely done. Rather than the stock brake lines, which are rubber hose, the stock clutch hose is that same rubber hose as the brake lines, but it's wrapped in hard plastic, presumably as a rudimentary effort to control the flexing and bulging of the simple rubber hose.

The thought that goes into these cars continues to impress me.
