03 rebuilt title wrx! Help!

So here's the scoop. My friend bought an 03 wrx which had a stock drivetrain, decent maintenance(timing belt, water pump etc) and 106k miles. He was told it had a clean title, and that it was unmolested, but he was completely lied to. Turns out, it had a front end collision and it has a rebuilt title. The crash happened at 25k and was repaired. There was no damage to the frame or anything, but the crash beam is broken. Everything else on the car seems fine. I'm doing a compression check tomorrow morning. The car has 115k on it. If the compression checks out, how much do you think this car is worth? Thanks!

Damn... That seriously sucks. He bought it for 10k!!!!! Watch out for scammers. And we would think its in almost "good" condition. Between fair and good.

Anyone else have an opinion on this? The car was inspected and everything, so the title is rebuilt. Everything works properly. Still only worth like 5k? Is their any way he can get his money back from the scammer?

Not much he can do. He should have done his research. At least the car has a good maintenance history, and that the accident happened awhile ago. If anything accident related were to happen, I would think it would have happened by now.

I sort of understand where you're coming from, but REALLY??? How about be smart enough to look over the car you are buying, including the title, before handing over your money. He's even checking the compression after the fact....

It's kind of hard to say he got scammed when he just didn't do his homework.

Not sure I would've paid 10k for a 10 year old car that's in "almost good" condition anyway. Aren't most 02/03 wrx's going 8-9 these days? And that's in virtually mint condition.

Your buddy didnt even check the title first? Sounds like the "scammer" is very good at not answering questions he's not asked.

If the car is fine other than those few little things, fix it, run it, and enjoy it. Trying to resell with this information now would lose you more money. Not to mention make you a worse person than the seller if you didn't disclose it.

not more than 4k i had mine 04 wrx rebuilt title with 99k on it and i had offers for less than 4k soooo goodluck buddy sorry to hear that

Well basically what I'm trying to say is that how much should I buy the car for from him? I like the car because I actually know the true price of it, and condition. Also, thanks guys!!!

we cant really put a price on it, we have never seen the car.

Pay him what you think it's worth, and what he's willing to agree on. As your finding, these are questions we can't give an answer.
