Default 2013 vs. 2014

I've looked around (not all THAT hard) for info on the 2014 wrx premium hatch to see what the difference if any there is from the 2013. So far I haven't seen anything new even when it comes to programing, features, suspension, nothing. I'm just curious because I'm about to retire jewbaru and adopt jewbaru V: 2.0 and I want to see if it's worth waiting for the 2014s to come out or just reap the benefits of getting a 2013 late in the season. Anyone know anything on the subject?

I had heard the 2014 WRX was the first MY to be split off from the Impreza line, so there should be some significant changes. A quick Google search for "2014 WRX" gives some evidence to that.

Exactly what, we'll have to wait and see.

I'd just get the 2013 WRX. The first gen of a new generation model is always the worst. If you do want a 2014 design, you should wait until the cycle year which would be probably 2016.

I don't like the concepts I've seen of the 2014 so I'm just going to the 2013

I don't either, although things could change. The body of evidence suggest it will be slightly larger (and likely heavier), which is why I went for a 2013.

The new Impreza was lighter and the WRX engine is dropping to a 2.0 so I don't see the next WRX getting heavier.

I do see it getting a slight peak hp boost, just to say they make more power than last year when in reality it will be down across most of the RPM range. Same trivial rating increase on the MPG.

Looking at the way things in the car market are going, I think the next gen cars are being overly leaned out to squeeze more efficiency at the cost of longevity.

C/N I will wager the 2013 is a better car.

We know almost nothing about the MY14. Also current news puts the redesigned WRX for 2015. So the MY14 should be unchanged from the MY13.

Nasty prius. The mirrors are painful. Guessing they went that direction for the wind resistance looks like crap but will get better MPG.....

I'll give up 3mpg if it means having a not crap looking car.

I hope you are right, although I won't be in the market for the first run of the new design either way. If they do spin off the WRX into its own line, I expect it will get a better interior, a stiffer chassis, and a higher price tag. But it's all speculation.

I don't care for the looks of the new design either.

All really good points. What bothers me about the concept design for the 2014/2015 is they aren't adhering to what the buyers want anymore. They are going straight mpg and probably build cost. The wrx is really an enthusiasts car. You don't get it for the mpg, you don't get it because its small and compact, you get it because of its history or it's power capabilities, it's ability to be practical and fun, or all of these factors. If I was worried about mpg I'd get a Chevy volt. After seeing what they did with the new styled 4doors I knew things were gonna start going south style wise with the wrx, hence why I'm getting the hatch.

Enthusiasts won't have a chance to love the car if the company can't make it pass fuel/emission standards for importation.

I pulled the trigger on a 2013 hatch last week. In talking with more than a few sales reps, there doesn't seem to be a complete redesign on the horizon until MY2015; that being said, even IF they did the redesign for MY2014, I personally would not want to be an early adopter of the new platform which would have put me on the docket for a minimum 2 year wait on a new WRX. That didn't make too much sense to me given that I did want one soon and I already liked the styling of the MY2011+ hatches.

Additionally, I'm not buying it for a snazzy interior, I'm buying it for performance and exterior looks. To each his own; but if you're seriously considering the purchase, I wouldn't let the questionable prospect of a upcoming redesign turn you off from a 2013.

It's a test mule body, not the finished product. Read before you start posting about how ugly it is! *facepalm*
