Default 2000 2.5 RS- Difficult to refuel- stumbles in hot weather

Well, the title pretty much tells it.

My 2000 2.5 RS is a pain to refuel. It acts like the tank-vent is clogged.

The car also runs poorly in hot weather. Stumbles on acceleration.

Any input?

Thanks

Roy

If you can't refuel easily, the charcoal canister is toast. As for the hot weather issue, might be a temp sensor.......any codes?

1...any CEL codes??
2...Tank vent is not really used while refueling. The excess air in the tank should vent through the top of the filler-neck plate. Overfilling the tank ("topping off") should throw a CEL. Bad charcoal canister or vent should also through a CEL.

What maintenance has been done? For that age, plugs, wires, filters (fuel, air, maybe charcoal canister), injector cleaner (in the tank....I do it 2x a year), etc.

Sorry, you gave "little info", I gave "nebulous" replies.

Sorry for the delay in my reply. I should have given more details.

I have been pretty lax in my maintenance other than changing my oil and filters.

I don't use the car a lot now. I've had a CEL forever. I don't know the code. I did some research again on the hard-to-fuel problem. There's a lot more info on the web now versus when I last looked. It looks like this is a common problem. Spider webs inside the tube that vents inside the frame rail. Or, the vent on top of the fuel tank has problems.

I'll get the codes pulled this weekend.

Sorry I started the thread with minimal info.

Roy

Not trying to be a PITA, just giving a "nudge" to provide info.

Let us know, we'll try to help out.
