Lightbulb :D "Good Cop" experiences??

Hey I was leaving gym tonight and a cop was waiting for me to pull out of my spot and when I backed out and he drove past he made sure I saw the dueces!!

I was pretty stoked to get "positive attention" from the boys in blue so I figured I'd post about it and see If anyone else has had these before

That's pretty cool. Sadly I have yet to experience anything like that, but I am currently living in Socal.

Not with the Subie but this was pretty cool. It was a nice day so my brother and I rode our motorcycles(him: Triumph Thruxton, me: GS500F) to get a phone activated at Verizon. Right after we passed the cop in the parking lot, he turned on his car and immediately followed us. I thought, oh great what now, was it going in between the speed bumps? My brother went over to talk to him and he started asking about his bike . Turns out he too had a Triumph and just wanted to complement his.

The one + experience I've had (most all have been neutral and only 3 negative) was when I got pulled over in my roadmaster doing 71 in the 55. I told the officer the jerk behind me was being impatient, that, I was in the passing lane going 60 to pass someone going 40, so I sped up to get out of his way. He stated I clocked you going 71 and you were probably slowing down at that point. However I see you have aftermarket rims and tires (Had 17" Impala SS wheels on the car), on your car, so you're speedo is probably off. Next time let the guy ride you, and I'll ticket him. Let me off with a warning and I was on my way

2 pretty awesome, 1 pretty terrible.

First two were simple, just rolling a stop and trying to beat a red.

Unfortunately, going 101 in a 65 apparently doesn't get you much sympathy.

I wish i could contribute to this thread with an awesome cop experience like the people posting in here have. But the coolest thing that has happened to me is that a cop has let me off with warnings instead of giving me tickets.

Got pulled over by a Vermont state trooper last year.

Him: "In a hurry?"
Me: "No. I thought I was going 10 over."
Him: "Well, I can't speak for other troopers, but I'm actually fine with 10 over. I'll even go with 15 over in some cases. But you were going 16 over. That's pushing it."
Me: "Yeah, I understand. Sorry about that."
Him: "Just slow it down a bit."
Me: "Ok, I will. Thanks. Have a good day."

We were both honest and showed understanding and respect. His message got through and I slowed down to 10 over for the rest of the trip.

I got pulled over doing 87 in a 55 and lucky I was in my army uniform and he told me to slow down and then we talked for a couple mins about my car (2011 wrx). Sometimes gotta love driving in uniform. Yet to get any type of ticket lol

I had a scary, but good cop experience. I pulled into a gas station and had recently smoked a bit of herb since I was heading home. Two cops immediately start coming over to my car as I pull in. I almost put it in reverse and got out of there, but didn't want to get chased. So I got out quickly so they didn't smell. All they wanted to do was check out the car and compliment it. I thought I was going to jail. No more smoking in the car after that.

One night on my way back from a meet @ like 1 am i got pulled over.
The officer said
"Nice subaru, my brother-in-law has one, love the sound. Have a good night"

Pulled me over to tell me he liked the sound of my Tanabe Race catback.
Who would have thought.

I have been pulled over atleast 5-6 times for exhaust tints.
In my experience, as long as you keep a cheerful tone and end the sentence's with "yes sir" or "yes officer" they will never give you a ticket.

I once got pulled over in port washington because i had a ridiculously loud exhaust leak thanks to a ridiculously high speedbump that i did not even notice.
Officer "Do you know why i pulled you over"
Me "I would like to say my exhaust is too loud?"
Office "You guessed right"
Gave him my license etc.
He goes (and i could tell he was cutting me a break and being nice) "Lucky for you i dont have a decibel meter on me, or a light meter as your tints seem exceptionally dark, so im just going to give you a verbal warning".
I said thank you, offered handshake, and went on my way.

The people that get pulled over and come off with the slightest bit of sarcasm or aggrevation in their tone are the ones that get ticketed.

Although the first time i did get pulled over was couple months after i had full drivers license.
I rapidly changed lanes to avoid rear-ending someone that slammed on the brakes for no reason in the middle of the grand central parkway.
And i happened to get behind a unmarked car.

His idea of tailgating is being within 4 car lengths of the car in front of you (i was 4 car lengths behind the unmarked car).
He walked over with a really elitist attitude for no reason. You could just tell he was one of the cops that acted like a dick because he could.
I didn't give more than "yes sir, no sir" answers cause he was the kind that anything you said would just make him more angry for no reason.
He gave me back my info + a tailgating ticket and said, i quote "Congratulations, you now have 4 points on your license within 2 months of having your driver's license. People like you shouldn't be allowed behind a steering wheel. You are the kind of people that cause accidents for being reckless."

Last time i checked, avoiding a accident was not being reckless.
W/e.

My area can't afford law enforcement.

Politeness and respect do go an awfully long way though.

bunch of cool stories

I have one that was kind of cool.

About 2 years ago (I had a 03 wrx buggie) me and my bud adam drove out to downtown brighton (10 minutes from my house) to go to the movie theater.

About 6 or 7 minutes into my trip going toward grand river, adam noticed that a cop turned in behind me (state trooper) i knew i had one brake light bulb out in the right unit on the inside of it.

When we get to a traffic light and I'm about to make a left onto G. River, Light turned green I got maybe 10 to 20 feet into the intersection and the cop flicks his light on, I thought ****, I was doing 5 over ish is he gonna be that angry with me.

I pulled into a BP gas station and turned off the turbo timer when we got in and sat and waited. The cop walked up to us and said the usual

Cop- "Do you know why i pulled you over"
Me- "I was speeding?"
Cop- "(had a smirk) no, i don't care about 7 over, but you have a brake light bulb out, i just wanted to let you know, also nice wrx I got a 04 myself"
Me- "Said thank you (smiling big now) offered a handshake and said if you see me driving toss a wave , shook his hand and was late to the movie and didn't care!"

worst part of that story...i was pulled over after the movie for the same thing from a Brighton cop...who wasn't so cheery 5 over ticket

I haven't had that many run ins with police at all, but of the couple almost all of them were positive.

Last summer on my way home from work, in order to avoid traffic I'd often take a local highway for one exit. The on ramp I'd jump on at is, for a lack of better words, very fun (sweeping right, banked dropping off from the road you enter from). There happened to be an officer one day in a DPW station gate part way around the ramp, who noticed me taking the ramp at a pretty good pace (probably about 60 by the time I noticed him )

So after two merges with other ramps, I make it on to the highway and promptly get pulled over. The officer comes up, asks me if I knew why he pulled me over and so forth. I explained it was likely for speed on the ramp, but he was more concerned that I didn't signal at the merge between two ramps before entering the highway, which I apologized for. Shortly after, he sent me on my way in light of my spotless driving record

I had a decent one a few years back after hockey. We finished at midnight and it had been snowing all night. The parking lot was completely empty so we were drifting around and just having fun. Then we see the lights come on, and just thought "Eff my life"

Cop: Having traction problems?
Me: Im sorry Sir, we were just finishing hockey and I decided to have fun. Im sorry I wont do it again
Cop: Did you guys win?
Me:
Cop: Im just going to warn you, have a good night. Keep the James Bond s#1t to a minimum.
Me: THANKS!

I was so happy at that point. Figured I would take it easy on my way home, didnt want to test my luck. He seem'd like a solid guy so I was VERY thankful. Careless driving doesn't look good to insurance companies

Doing 75 in a 65 on the phone with the herb hook. Radar detector UNPLUGGED. St patrol merges on behind me and flips his lights as I exit. So do you know why I pulled you over? No sir. Turns out I accelerated when I got into the exit lane along with the 10 over. He then asked what the radar detector was for. I say oh no its a compass. Kinda glares at me and says so instead of buying a5 dollar compass you bought a 200 dollar radar detector? No officer it came with the car.(04 saleen focus for sale btw) he went back to his car and when he came back let me off with a warning.
