Default paint flaking on front bumper

I just recently noticed on my obs that on bumper below the tail lights the grey is literally just flaking off. It used to just be a little piece but its now about an inch and a half across. It has me annoyed because i only got the freaking thing about 3 months ago... i dont believe the bare metal is showing because its just flat black in the spot. Is this a cheap fix or will it be alot of work?

Pics

Most likely the bumper will have to be repainted.

I'm guessing the flat black is the stock bumper not "bare metal" the bumpers are a flat black plastic with out paint. My guess if you have ever had the bumper replaced or even if you didn't, paint prep wasn't done correctly. If you don't have the bumper prepped correctly you can peel the paint off like a bananna. If its the factory bumper I would contact your local dealer.

IIRC, the 3/36 warranty is transferable. If you're still within that warranty period, Subaru may be able do something for you *if* this is a result of a manufacturer defect. However, if the bumper has been repainted (which I suspect), it will not be covered. This is also true if the issue is due to neglect, damage from an impact, etc.
As for whether or not the dealer you bought the car from is responsible, it will depend on your local consumer laws and/or any legal agreement you had with the dealer upon purchase.

Personally, I would start with the dealer you bought the car from and see what they say. Investigate your rights in this scenario. If they are not legally liable, try Subaru to see if this can be covered under warranty. ....but be prepared to be denied for reasons like I mentioned.

....chips from impacts are a different story. The OP's paint is "flaking" off and affecting an area over an inch. That is not something I believe just happens on these cars.
