Thought I'd drop a note and say hello... noob to the subaru world..

I'm coming from a Scion xB that I've done some fun stuff to and am doing a lot of research into the Impreza now. I've always done stuff my own style and have an end result that I'm looking for in a car. I had a great group of friends in the Scion community and hope to find the same here.

As soon as I unload the xB, I'll start on the Impreza stuff. I won't be doing much in terms of engine mods until I get the body/wheels/interioring into shape (basically the cosmetic stuff and creature comforts).

Here's the Scion

The Scion was a great build and was tons of fun to do. Plus it was a cheap investment, so the cash flow for the mod's was always there....

I got the Impreza on the cheap, but not as cheap. It was one of the 09's that had an engine failure, so it sat forever on the lot and the price kept coming down. I ended up paying $23,900 with just over 1000 miles, 400 miles on the new motor; cold weather package and short shifter were on there also. I priced some of the 2010's out there with similar options and they were all coming in around 31k....

Welcome, the subaru community is full of great people, minus a few d-bags here and there. But I'm sure you will get along fine.

Although I hope to god you go in a completely different direction with the subaru.

I'm actually about 20 miles south of Corvallis. Not really new to the area.. been driving through town for 10 plus years into HP and the last 5 over to LBCC.

And no, I won't be going that direction with the Subaru... But I will be doing a paint scheme of some sort or another in the near future.

I'm researching wheels at the moment and the next step will be the ride height... I hate the wheel gap on the Impreza....

I have a buddy with an iron cross hood ornament he might sell you. It would look boss on the impreza.

Sorry for pulling up an old thread, but I have a 96 Legacy, and as a college student, not a lot of disposable income. But, I'd like to start learning about modding cars by helping someone with their projects if I can, and I'm in Corvallis. I've changed my own timing belts and machined a crank pulley hold back tool, as well as working in a prototyping machine shop, so I'm not the typical lazy, useless kid who thinks it'll be easy. I've also drawn up a custom short shifter based on dimensions on a stock one I pulled from a junkyard car and an idea I got from the GFB 6 speed short shifter. Anyone in the corvallis/Albany area interested in an eager minion? Thanks!
