Default 02 wagon HPDE 1 pad recommendations?

There is a NASA event coming up the 4th and 5th of April that looks to be about the last one locally until October. I'm trying to have the car ready to go by then, but I'm a little lost as to which pads to put on.

Right now I'm looking at the hp+ . Other than the legacy rotors and caliper bracket the rears, the brakes are the factory setup.

eventually car will get more setup for the track, but will still need to be drven there. Right now we just want to get out there before it shuts down for the summer.

For hpde1 you should be fine on hawk hp+ front and back. If you find that these are not up to snuff you can step up to a hawk ht-10 or ht-14 which I had better results with.

The ht-14 on front and ht-10 on rear was a nice setup that give very confident fade free braking without destroying my rotors in one weekend.

Now at the TT level I run giro-disc two piece rotors and dtc 70's and the stopping is phenomenal..increased rotor wear is the downside.

Best of luck and happy tracking!

Ya I'd agree that the HP+'s should do the trick. I love the Ferodo 2500's for track work as well, def a slightly higher price point. Have fun out there!!!

Thanks for the help guys! We're really excited to get out there. There will be two to three of us, each with various amounts of track time.

Price point is a concern. We still need to make sure our helmets pass tech. The time frame is really short.

Do you think we might be able to get away with HP+'s in the front and hps in the rear?

I'd love to step up to some ferodo or carbotech pads, but those are outside the budget right now.

I really like my carbotechs but they are expensive.

Be careful with switching pads, some are not compatable with other compounds.

Are you guys doing double or triple duty in the same car?

The track and your tires will determine a lot of your braking needs. Most will agree WRXs are underbraked for the weight and a real problem area once you start pushing it or running longer sessions. A mellow in lap and slow cruise around the paddock will help bring temps down and take the stress off your wheel bearings. Change your fluid too.

I was in this same position about 1 month ago and created a thread somewhat like this one. I went with the HP+ pads from turninconcepts.com, stoptech drilled rotors, Goodrich lines and motul RBF 600 fluid from rallysportdirect.com . I will admit, I have not put these on because my first event of the year isn't until June. If you do decide to go with the pads, lmk how they perform.

street tires. Continental extreme contact DW. That's why I'm hoping the hp+ should be fine for us. They should be more pad than the tire can handle.

With that tire you'll have no issues with HP+.
