So a quick update:

My trans is being re-assembled today (transfer bearing was shot). I ended up swapping 3rd and 4th gear ratios on my 04 trans to the 07+ ratios to get a little bit more gear in the midrange.

Longblock is all assembled and waiting on the trans before that goes in.

Turbo kit is on its way to the engine builder - so barring any more disasters or unforseen complications, I *might* get my car back late next week or the week after!!!

Andrewtech in Gaithersburg, MD did my rebuild. Since it was a 6spd, I didn't want to take any chances with a local shop. I also knew mine needed to be torn down, it had so much bearing whine.

These shops seem to have a decent reputation around here, but I haven't been to any of them for performance work.

Area1320 in Allentown - no dyno
Akuma in Northern NJ - has AWD dyno
Precision Tuning in Northern NJ - has AWD dyno

That's all you'll hear much about within 3 ish hours.

Area1320 did my fender roll, they seemed kinda young at the time (was 4ish years ago). I remember Ryan taking my car for a quick roadtest and saying "That tune is ****, I can do a lot better, let me tune it". When in reality, it was probably his first time driving a car running a Hydra and he wasn't used to the change in the throttle ramp.

Edit: There's also AZP Installs. Which while not a 'performance' shop, they've got an amazing reputation as a subaru enthusiast shop that can do anything from oil changes to installs.

So you went back to the stock ECU tune from the factory? If so, did you also put the stock turbo-back exhaust and air intake, etc on?

Some other possibilities are:
- boost cut (Could happen if you still have an aftermarket exhaust but factory ecu without a tune)
- detonation from either bad gas or too lean / too much timing / too much boost (most likely, it's this) (could happen if you still have an aftermarket exhaust but factory ecu without a tune)
- weak spark from either a coil pack going bad or a fouled plug causing the spark to blow out under really high cylinder pressures

My pillar pod is made by Lotek ( http://www.gaugepods.com/subaru.html ) but they only offer 2002 - 2007 from the looks of it.

These also look really nice but I haven't seen anyone with them: http://www.jcs-pods.com/index.php

As a side note, they can be pretty distracting. I kinda dislike mine but I needed more than 3 gauges so just the center pod wasn't enough for me.

My lotek pod is an overlay - it goes on top of the existing panel. So fitment is uhh... Not as nice I would've liked it to be.

I'm not sure if they are replacement panels or overlays now. I'm actually tempted to get the jcs panel and see if it fits better.
