I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed that the video makes it look like the oval banking won't be run.

Otherwise, looks pretty good, though the lap times are going to be short. Progress is further along than I had been expecting.

the progress is real good....I think they will use the oval but haven't bridged that gap yet.....looks narrow and flat....i had thought there would be more elevation

Super excited about this track. Can't wait to take the WRX out there next year with some new goodies!

One thing I've learned from taking and viewing hours of incar video is elevation changes don't translate well on video. I've heard from people that have walked it that the elevation changes are pronounced.

My coworker tells me that they have been going gangbusters with the track prep. He also said that one of those residents has put together a petition to stop the track and was bragging that he had 27 signatures.

From the video, even though there may not be a lot of total elevation difference, there are a lot of places in the video where I can pick out small changes (5-10') that are in places that will have a profound effect on how you drive the track. There was one corner that I saw that looked like there was a significant crest about half way from apex to track out that things will get REALLY interesting at.

So what trackday clubs will have dates there in 2014? I primarily run with SCDA and I'm quite sure they have dates booked already. Judging by the Youtube vid above I'm sure Tony's Track Days does as well. Any others? BMWCCA? PCA?

I currently instruct with SCDA but would like to instruct with another club.

edit: nvm regarding Tony's Track Days. It's a motorcycle club, I didn't realize it until I checked out there website. What other clubs have people here run with that they really like?

Unbelievable.

I wonder if said resident stopped to think about the local economy being affected and the possibility of a local tax increase to account for lost revenue if he/she was successful.

Its not like the track hasn't been there awhile.

Much like Lime Rock, there's no good way to get there. At least not from the east or west. 395 is pretty convenient for everyone else.

it's been a track forever, and there is nothing in town....there is no local economy boost, there is however, the hope to keep the track in business....

Rt 6 and 44 are fast roads in eastern CT, and 395 hooks up well with MA Pike and 95. LRP is all sorts of slow windy roads, this will be easier. And less than 50 miles for me.

It's a bit closer for me and those are moderate speed state roads. 395 is a nice pickup for anyone going N/S. I live east of Hartford so it's fairly close but still not too easy to get to. I'm excited for it either way!

Haven't had a chance to watch the video, but when I was at the track last month, they were grading and prepping for the first layer of asphalt, it didn't look like there'd be much elevation change at all. The diving turn was yet to be cut at that time though. There used to be a mountain where that skidpad is, so perhaps that will have some elevation change there.

As a clockwise course, it'll eat front left tires, balancing out the front right tires NHMS destroys. So if you care about your tires, you must do both tracks!

This is literally less than 5 minutes from my house... I can hear the motors when they run the NASCAR races.

NASA had this track on their schedule for 2013 until track completion was postponed. Hopefully it will be back on their schedule for 2014 as well.

Word on the streets is that Thompson is hoping to get ALMS and indy there. My subi will likely never see the track, but I am excited to ride it. Palmer Ma is also in the process of building a track, but that has been going on for a while and will likely not be ready next year(if ever). NYST is brand new and awesome and that isn't too far away. This year the facilities were lacking but next year they should have significant improvements. Hopefully these will influence NHMS to step their game up, and go through with the repave and lengthen the track like there has been talk about

Palmer has been making big progress the last two months or so, both projects are both running full steam as of right now.

I was there over the weekend, no way ALMS and Indy ever run there....it looks like it'll be a fun course but there are debates over how racy it will be..SCCA officially has two dates there next season and progress seems good...as stated earlier in the thread there is more elevation than the video shows and one hell of a front straight.
