I think domo is too expensive for a lot of the guys, but I'm cool with it. Foundry is a nice place to go to. Few things we got to make decisions on

1. Is this weekly, bi-weekly or when ever.
2. Do we want to plan a cruise down to the Subaru factory for a plant tour? They are held Monday Wednesday and Friday at 9am eastern spits best to go down the night before. We do have to schedule the tour so we would have to plan it.
3. Who is up for going to the auto-x at the Subaru plant? Last year it was in August on a sat so spectating can go that morning, anyone in it arrives the afternoon before.
4. What if we get some cards with the NASIOC site on with info about our meets that we can hand out to others? I'm sure we could get our own domain if we really wanted to.

Bi-weekly would be cool. As well, I am up for the Subaru auto-x and cruise. Seems like it would be very interesting.

Mmmmm Domo.

If any of you guys are also interested in doing a track day, autobahn with MVP track time is not full for august 12th yet. I think it's like $250 for the day, which isn't bad.

August 12, 2013: Autobahn Country Club II (Joliet, IL) – Full 3.56 Mile Track

If you have not done a track day before they have instructors, and most of all this is SAFE racing (which doesn't make sense but hear me out). They have rules set in place where people are not racing, but are able to push the limits of their car in a safer manner. $250 is well worth what you will learn with an instructor, learn about your car and meet a bunch of new people who love this sport that you won't see hotrodding around naperville parking garages.

Your car can be fast or slow, skill is what really drives who stays out in front on these tracks (unfortunately for the slower cars there are a lot of straights on this track where you can hit 120-130 in a 400-500 rwhp car).

I think I'm personally set on bringing my Subaru. I would recommend with any track day purchasing a front set of rotors/race pads to swap on at the track (unless you have a awesome brake set-up and rotors already). I would also recommend upgrading to stainless steel lines all around with Dot 4 fluid before attempting a track day. Safety really is your #1 concern, and as much as you like going fast the worst feeling in the world is not being able to stop coming into a turn at 80+ mph.

You're probably thinking, $250! I'll pass, but trust me it's well worth it. Even if you get out here once a year it's way better than buying some powder coating services or getting a new part. Plus the best part is, you have a huge ego when you get out there thinking you can drive, only to get shot down severely by some of these guys hahaha. It's all fun.

I'd be interested but I think I want to do some autocrosses first because I've never done anything of the sort in my car or even a full size car yet

I'm signing up for some Auto X's in my subaru/Z. First one is april 21st at sears center. $35 and you get like 8 runs in usually, especially this early in the season you will probably get a crap ton of runs in and only have to work like 1/2 the runs.

Maybe that be a more cost efficient option to the guys that want to try autox before doing Joliet???? I always like to watch.

These track days are filling up quick. The track day before it on June 3rd already has a reserve list. There are other organizations you can run with, but this is a good one.

Driving one or two autox's probably won't help you with anything track related for two reasons.

1 - The run lasts about 30-50 seconds and it's short and tight handling, nothing compared to a track.
2 - Again since it's a short run you won't know if your car is reliable enough still to be on a track. (Brakes/Engine/Suspension/Etc...)

Auto X is fun to get out of the house for a day and womp on the car and be competitive to show quick reflex and control skills. A full circuit track is where dreams are made.

Yes, doing maybe 5-10 auto x's will help you prepare more for a track as you will start to learn, but the first couple you are just going to be all over the place. The guy who was helping me out wouldn't even ride in the Z again because it was too wild. Large single turbo and $h*tty tires don't go well together with auto x.

Don't be scared of a track day at Autobahn. I did my first last year and was pretty anxious, but once I got out there I was loving it. It's all about going at your own pace. The people are nice, instructors there to help you, etc. I am signed up for both MVP track days and will be signing up for the AMS day Sep 7 as well.

If you want to try Auto-x check out the Chicago SCCA events. I just did my first Auto-x yesterday as part of their class and it was a blast. Again, it's pretty laid back, you go at your own pace. Next Sunday's auto-x has about 12 wrx/stis signed up for B and D stock. These are held in the parking lot of the Route 66 dragstrip in Joliet.

Go to either with the intention of only to better yourself and gain experience. Don't go trying to be a race car driver, pass people on the track, or have the fastest lap in an auto-x. That's when something stupid happens, you hurt yourself/car, etc.

So good news! Apparently, if all goes well i'm being told that my car may be running by this coming weekend!
All parts were dropped off at the shop, injectors should be en-route to the shop again and my heads were dropped off at the race shop or w.e for repair today. Beyond excited.
However there was some bad news, i'm now being told that prior to the hole in the piston the car was running extremely lean for a fair amount of time. I was running an OTS stage 2 map from cobb with all supporting mods and nothing extra (engine wise that is). Why would that be? anywhoo looking into some alternatives other than just the ots maps. Ive been doing alot of research involving e-tunes that go through the accessport such as clark tuning. Thats the route i think i'm going to head but what are everyone elses thoughts on the subject? And if i did go the e-tune route i will have to spend the $400 to upgrade my accessport

You didn't miss much besides a bunch of riced out teeny boppers trying to be cool by following a douche driving an M5 and hot rodding in a parking garage.

Why would you have to upgrade the AP? Are you changing that much?

In order to do the e-tuning I will need to data log, and my current AP v1 does not have the data logging function. Thus I will need to upgrade to AP v2 but i have also thought about this for a while because the logging would be nice but also all the gauge options seem pretty nice
