To me its all a waste of $$ i never liked the AP. Cause its generic, the hole in.piston could of been from anything. Look into. Open source. That's what i have. None.of this guessing one tune for all stage 2 b.s you are putting a decent amount of dough into this motor so let's not put a hole in it again..........

Gauges are only as good as the gauge /sending unit. AP. Read what your OEM sensor is seeing. And those have a +/- % of error/delay. Data logging get a laptop and tactric cable and data log.... that's why i just threw it out there running stock through the break in.process and once.that is all.done and.complete then go stage (#) and bolt items on and tune properly

Most people praise open source. AP was taken out of my car and replaced with open source with better results.

I would recommend a gauge that has serial cables built in to plug into the laptop while data logging. Tracking AFR/Oil Pressure/Oil Temp/Boost/Fuel maps/timing/load/rpm/etc...all in one laptop is godlike. You can street tune all day with zero issues. Only problem is no torque curve. I run innovate LC-1 Controller and now have a MTD-X gauge/controller with it. Having the computer track everything rather than your eyes is so much more practical.

^^ bingo. But you have a setup, vs a guy like me that just threw parts on, got a Dyno tune and drive it dailey. If i had a little more umpf performed to car, Turbo, injectors, f.pump, ect. Then i would like to monitor what's going on before i grenade the dang thing.

I park next to a 2013 gtr at work all the time...that is when he isn't driving his lambo. Maybe he recognizes the AMS badging =D. I'll have to tell him the next step is the alpha 9 kit.

However there was some bad news, i'm now being told that prior to the hole in the piston the car was running extremely lean for a fair amount of time. I was running an OTS stage 2 map from cobb with all supporting mods and nothing extra (engine wise that is). Why would that be? anywhoo looking into some alternatives other than just the ots maps. Ive been doing alot of research involving e-tunes that go through the accessport such as clark tuning. Thats the route i think i'm going to head but what are everyone elses thoughts on the subject? And if i did go the e-tune route i will have to spend the $400 to upgrade my accessport
Don't forget group-N engine and trans mounts. Or perrin mounts.

What about going to six star and getting a protune? I've always heard that's usually the best way to go

There really is no best way. I believe 6* does road tunes, on a fresh motor not best thing to do. But get in contact with 6* Dewey. Or mark at apm and they will tell.you what's up not the jumbled info we all spit out.

I guess first thing first is I need to get the car home on the stage 2 OTS map and then install a wideband A/F gauge an then go from there. Right now I'm leaving towards AP v2 and an e-tune

I'd like to run this just to get some offroad time. All I want is a decent patch of dirt to play in and it's just too hard to find that around here. Also, it's free to spectate. Can't get much better than free. We better have a convoy headed down.
