With such ugly wheels and hood who knows what other terrible choices have been made regarding the modification of the car.

That's not an STi , Its a Subaru that was made from random parts. The brakes are obviously from a 2006-2007 Wrx with the TR package

I'm going with this. Base model impreza J/K, but I doubt it started as an STI.

that would have been a LOT of work to make an 08-10wrx look like an sti. Especially in the rear.

I don't have anymore info that's why im asking because I want the info myself. I do know for a fact this is an sti. I don't really care about the visual mods because those can easily be changed.

To each his own, but something tells me no own is going to own up to that ride.

I know you were just fishing for some info but don't know what you need to get from others that you don't already have access to. Meaning if its at a dealership ask for a Car Fax report, at the very least you will be able to know the area it was driven in and could contact those local dealers to see if it was taken in for service.

Outside of facts (ie services, accidents, etc <car fax>) there really isn't much to gather. You can check the mods he did (external, internal, performance) and see if fits your comfort level. I find that people try and get the least modded ride possible to lower the probability of it be ragged on; but some look for others who have put there time and money into it and are looking for quality.

The only other thing I can think of that you may be trying to find is someone to say "oh hey, I know that ride... Stay way/good buy." Which is a needle in a haystack.

Good luck with your decision and search for info. Small piece of advise... buying a car with a lot of cosmetics that you don't like is like buying a house that needs work. You'll have to put your own time and money into it; sometimes it's not worth buying something that needs a lot of change.

Sorry for the long post.

I can't tell from the low res pictures, but they may be AP Racing calipers.

It's most likely an '08 STI (with AP Racing calipers). If the hood and wheels were painted, it wouldn't look terrible.

Thanks for the post and advice. I live in Virginia so im a good ways away from this car. All I know is the car is at some dealer in Arkansas. I've seen the car on the for sale classifieds like a month or so ago. I went back searched high and low for it but came up with nothing. I was just wondering if someone else had seen it or had any info on it.

At a glance I'm calling it a WRX, definitely not an STI.

badge on the front grill says wrx, so i'll go with that and plus it can't be a base model impreza since it has the stock wrx/sti wide body kit that the base impreza doesnt have.

This was on nasioc for sale at some point not too long ago. I remember looking at it because of the color wheels, but it was definitely on here for sale.

I know there is a lot speculations about this trim... couldn't someone just get the VIN number and verify it?

Rounded mesh sport grille + widebody = 08/09 STI

Newer widebody WRX/STI have a flatter main grille.

Asks for info.

Withholds pics.

Scumbag Steve move.

Also, the blue wheels are dope. The unpainted CF hood is gross. All of you that thought this was a WRX are dumb.

Meh, I'm not sure if I would purchase a car modded like this from a dealer especially if I cant see it/ drive it in person.

Only way I would even consider this if I were you is if they allow you to go on a lengthy drive and have a tuner hook up his laptop to make sure everything looks good. Then, I'd take it to a reputable tuner shop that specializes in Subarus and have them look it over.

Really, you want immaculate documentation of the modifications done. This is a big investment. So many people on these forums come in and are like "I just bought this wrx/ sti a couple weeks/ months and its got all these mods that I know nothing about and now its acting all funny... what do I do?"
