Default trying to bypass ebrake safety for new HU

I'm very weary of electrical but this is so simple I don't understand why I'm having such a hard time. this unit has nav, radio, phone w mic, contacts, photo stream, web browser, etc....

whats happening: when I try to watch a video or go on the browser it says it needs to have the e brake applied, depressed, and reapplied.. I wired a regular 12v switch I had in my toolbox...

what i tried: the switch had 3 male ends so I made a ground and put the other end into the middle port of the switch, the green cable from the HU went on one of the other sides of the switch.. no luck. I thought the ground may have been ****ty so I cut it and spliced it into the 12v cig lighter's ground in hopes of a definite ground; still no luck. also tried a momentary switch I had laying around, still same result.. also had a 3 way switch that didn't work either.

Its a pioneer app radio (on sale for 140; anyone with an iPhone 4/4s should buy this thing ASAP because of all the features for the $$ IMO)

does radio shack have those micro bypasses as well?

and the relay trick won't work anymore? (researched a little deeper)

sorry, phrased the second question as a statemen, does the relay trick not work anymore because of an update? I found some videos on YouTube that show that way, and that way I can have everything in front of me tomorrow after work instead of waiting.

1. Needs to be timed correctly
2. If the parking brake wire is grounded before the radio is on or as soon as it's on it fails.
3. The $20 chip does the sequence correctly and at the right time. I have it, it works.

Use a standard 12 volt relay works fine.
Ground 87 & 85.
Remote turn on into 86.
Ebrake to pin 30.

Done it every install works perfect.

The remote turn on for the deck doesn't activate until a source is selected so everyone purchasing this $20 "micro bypass" is really buying a $15 over priced standard 12 volt relay. Sorry to burst your bubbles guys.

Who cares its tied up to the harness at the back of the head unit. Not exactly life threatening.

Glad you got it figured OP.
