When i had the Edge in there, it would consume it with no burning smell. I could add a quart and it would consume it again. Last change was at the dealer and i specifically asked for non synthetic, that has worked great. Our years dont call for synthetic so just gunna stay with conventional.

Yep, been running Esso 5w30 mineral (dealer supplied) since new. Just passed 60000km and never had to top it off.

Wow my 09 has been at the dealer now for close to three weeks getting the engine rebuilt, why you ask. It some how emptied the crankcase between oil changes and through a rod The only good news in this is its covered under the drivetrain warranty but nobody can tell me why this happen. No oil on the ground no blue smoke no smell just congratulations you get a free rebuild at 53k mi

Same thing with mine, just about 1000 before my due oil change and my rod blew, apparently all my oil went missing and it locked everything up. Got a brand new engine build though because of extended and added protection I bought.

You just like the OP, forgot one very important aspect about maintaining an engine and that is to "check your oil once a week"!! The bold in your statement leads me to believe you didn't bother to check it once the oil was changed....

Because if you did, then this wouldn't of happened to you or the OP

lesson learned but you dont think you need to check oil in a new car mine barely had over 50k on it. Baker0311 did they ever tell you what the problem was that caused the oil to go by by

Good, that you learned a very valuable lesson here. It is just a good habit to get into to check your oil and then make sure the over flow bottle is full as well. Simple checks go a longggg way for a car
