Default Performance shops - MD

Any suggestions for performance shops in/near Montgomery County MD? Or anywhere that people have had bad experiences with?

Andrewtech is in Montgomery county (the airpark) as well as TurboXS (same airpark, right around the corner from Andrewtech)! I highly reccommend both shops!

Wow. Really? As many threads as there are in MAIC about tuning, "what shop should I use," and this still shows up?

If you are dead set on staying in MoCo, Andrewtech, DPS, and TurboXS are all right there in the Airpark, as Jake pointed out.

If you are willing to drive about 45 minutes from Gaithersburg/Germantown (basically, straight up MD 27 to Westminster), IAG Performance is awesome (but I am, admittedly, biased ).

It'll take a bit longer, depending on traffic, to get up to Agile, but I have friends who swear by them as well.

Do some research. Know what you want to do, and then call/go to the shops yourself and discuss it with them.

If you're willing to go out of MoCo as well, Mach V is an option.

I've been going to Andrewtech for 8 years maybe more.

The other shops are good too, but not that much better than any other. I wish some of these people would admit their are sponsored by the shops they are so eager to promote.

I'm not sponsored, just get basic maintenance and repairs.

+1 Amen.

I'm an Andrewtech fan as well b/c of the hype back in 2004 about Andrew. He's been nothing but a great mechanic and friend, so continue to drive to MoCo from Ashburn, even in rush hour traffic. He's still one of the most knowledgeable persons in the MAIC when it comes to working on cars and still amongst the top on NASIOC when it comes to Subaru transmission work.

All that being said, all the shops listed are good to great, but I prefer Andrewtech and TurboXS.

I would suggest IAG in westminster..... there customer service is great and they build monster cars. Also, it seems like there labor rate is the cheapest which is odd.... best shop = cheaper labor............... IAG

Agreed. Personally I never take my car anywhere else... for anything. And if you're in Montgomery County already, why go to another shop! They also do some of the best builds in the country, like the guy above me!

What he ^^ said. If StealthWRX's car isn't enough reason to go to Andrewtech and TXS, Then you need serious mental help.

All the shops around there are good. I take my car to AMS which is two doors down from turboxs. They're an evo shop but they know what they're doing and are willing to go out of their way to help and inform you of whatever you want to know.

My friends go to andrewtech and turboxs and they're great people. I chose ams because they're cheaper in cost usually, very friendly, and are very knowledgeable.
